fantastic filming above and below the water line...grateful to people who are daring enough to find out how humans are destroying the ocean floor...us normal folk can't go out to the middle of the ocean but thanks to laser, we can at least see what's there and shouldn't be and what's not there and should be...thank you laser...

Real ocean research, with results even I could understand... Beautiful underwater cinematography. It's clear that, whether caused by man or nature, global warming cannot be ignored.

this video presentation of the global warming problem is wonderfully produced and easy to follow. The narrator's voice is one of those I could listen to for hours. The filming is captivating. I found that "Canary" made it's point in a fashion which causes one to listen and remember the information. Informative, provocative, beautiful and shocking. The perfect documentary.

I very clearly remembered reading the National Geographic article about the Phoenix Islands and how I felt so awe struck that such a unique and unparralled coral paradise existed . The imagery was stunning and these islands were heralded as one of the last remaining coral reef wilderness on the planet. David Obura, vice president for global marine programs at the New England Aquarium, had excitedly cited it as one of "Earth's last pockets of primal ocean, those underwater havens that have remained unspoiled as long as the ocean can remember."

The dramatic story of the demise of the worlds oceans is very well summed up by this excellent documentary piece. Its beautifully shot , edited and narrated. A wonderful film and a very noble cause.

I am very close to tears. Wow. After diving in the caribbean I feel so connected to the coral reefs. This is absolutely devistating and yet inspires me to want to DO something. I have seen the death of reefs in Thailand and Honduras and it makes me so sick to my stomach. Thank you thank you thank you for putting this out there! It is a well thought out piece with a good balance of graphics, underwater footage and voiceover.

I'm greenlighting this, because I can't deny the power of the imagery and the impact of the writing and editing. But there a few things I'd personally like to see changed:

The reference to "The PCRF" that occurs about midpoint through should be changed to the full organization name -- enough time has passed in the piece that another citation would help.

I'm not sure how Current handles these things, but the way I see it, the point here is to inform, not to fundraise. The "Support the PCRF" statement at the end pushes the piece into the latter category, and robs if of some of its potency. That doesn't mean you can't put contact info immediately after the fadeout as your first closing credit, but find some other, compelling final statement for your V.O. that would inspire me to reach out to the organization on my own.

But strong piece otherwise, exposing yet another reason why worldwide attention must be paid to the environment.

Nice shots, well cut, A wake up call presented in a well put, to the point piece.

    Thanks

Great video. I like that the focus is on the reefs specifically since most environmental videos are rather broad. Bringing attention to unknown places like the Phoenix Islands is awesome too.

Its a bit long, but besides that, the piece is really strong. I'd cut it down, which is hard to do when the content is really good, maybe condense the part about what destroys reefs, if possible. But very important to address the decimation of such a beautiful landscape.
Very sad and more people should know about what is happening to the precious reefs.

We stand at the brink of a time with amazing potential for a global environmental movement. But how can we act? When will we realize the stakes? How can we get past the beautiful images and wake up? Pieces like this and An Inconvenient Truth bring people together in spirit but how can we come together in action? Asking for donations isn't enough but certainly a start. GREENLIGHT

Outstanding, distressing, and true. This short piece needs to been seen by every carbon-producing citizen--which means the entire 'first world'... Laser is a talented filmmaker and PCRF is doing the kind of work that ALL enviro's should be engaged in.
