I love when I get the chance to make first comments. Shot beautifully once again by prichard1 and GO Pictures. The kids are adorable and I think the subject is cutting edge. I didn't know a thing about baby sign language. These kids know more signs than I do.
One knock - could use a little more meat, maybe a true academic on the subject. Maybe not, might put us to sleep. This really moves.
Cute kids never hurt a pod either.

Why didn't anyone teach me to sign "GREENLIGHT?"
Well here you go anyway...GO GO GO -
I loved it! So cool to give your little one the gift of early communication. Thanks for letting us see more of adorable Jackson!
-
This is amazing! Great information and how rewarding! Thanks for bring this to my attention!
-
cool!!

I didn't give this one green the first time I saw it, but I have found myself talking to people about it, and Jackson's hands (and smile) keep popping into my head, so I'm back to give it the vote it deserves.
The one thing that makes me somewhat nervous, is the "I'm sorry" sign. How can a child so young have any idea what that means? -
Jackson knows when he does something "wrong" like hitting, biting, pushing etc. He knows "when" to say sorry - I'm not sure why it makes you feel nervous...
-
Glad to see you're following up with more unique and compelling stories from the life of this family. As a fellow dad at home with my 1 year old (since he was 4 months old) I'm grateful to see something that resembles my experience getting straightforward and public attention.
... BTW I added thawed frozen peas to my son's dinners after seeing "Dad's Home", and I'll probably add these signs to his repertoire after seeing Jackson using them so effectively. -
I really liked this thank you so much u helped me because i have a cousin down here from texas cause their mom is in the army national guards and he is artistic.so thank you you helped me with some new words and how to do the signs correctly even though i no some of them. But we have a teacher coming to my house 3 times a day for his speech and i see them doing the sign language while i'm sitting out in the dinning room try'na listen and watch them teach him.So i thank you for puting this video on the website for others to see.Thank you.

Very good, fascinating.
This is useful information for anyone interested in humanity. I think communication has some universal core to it. Sign language is the same in every language right?
Anyhow, this illuminated a vast subject - intellectual development. Great piece.
And while we are speaking of "universal", I must give a plug for TELEPATHY. More later in my next upload. -
actually sign language varies just as spoken words do. There are different "styles" and different "dialects" from local to local. But I agree with you on communication having a universal core to it.
-
Thats an awesome piece. Some friends of mine taught there baby to use baby sign and its so good to see him be able to communicate. I think you're right how it helps them not to be as frustrated because it allows them to communicate what they want and need. Awesome job.

Good job Prichard!! Check our pod Journey to Life, we are waiting to hear your comments.

To Sexy158...
Jackson's Mother here:
I'm not sure what you're referring to when you say "let babies be babies" -
What's the difference in your mind between teaching babies to sign and teaching them to speak?
In what way do you feel that signing infringes upon a child's ability to "just be a baby"? -
Your pods have a way of simply captivating the audience. I find myself absolutely fixed on your stories. I think this has a lot to do with your pacing and your ability to verbally tell the story. There is something very honest in your voice. Interesting topic, I think most people use signs to communicate with babies, they just don't realize it. Another GL from me. Thanks.

Sooo cute!! Is this a sign that I need to start having babies?????
-
I did a research paper on this in college. It's been proven that teaching babies to sign reduces the amount of stress on both the child and parents. And actually, it doesn't impede speech development at all; in fact it either stays the same or advances. Teaching a baby to sign allows her to be able to communicate what she needs months and months earlier than if she were to wait for her vocal abilities to develop. This is definitely something parents should see. Green Light!
-
its amazing simple as that.
I never thought of doing that.
I have a 8 month year old child and i'm going start doing that with her.
thansk for the tips
everything was great about this film, engaging, audio was fine. lighting was good.
great camera work.. -
really well done
-
This is what this site is all about -- this should be picked up for CNN or something. It was very informative and fun. I never knew about baby signing. Is this a growing trend? It seems like it would give the child a real head start. The host is great and the toddler is really CUTE!
Great job!

Life is amazing, loved this.

I love this pod, it's very informative. Also baby signing seems to be something that not a lot of people know about...it's good to the spread the word about things like this. Plus anything that keeps small children from screaming for what they want....is fine with me.

Thank you so much for creating this piece. I have a deaf grandson and a hearing granddaughter, his sister. The family is able to communicate with both of them since about eight months. It does make the world of difference when you know your baby wants milk, vs. cereal or to change their diaper or as they get a little older go potty. Much less crying and frustration.
