i enjoyed it. it is important to showcase artists and their stories and what they're doing. To hear them speak. Black artists. Real stories. Not weirdos or attics. I learned a few things. I liked the raw, shoulder to shoulder, hands on, idea of art and people. If we could all open up and not be apprehensive to touch or talk to people, this world world be alot cooler. shoot, living in LA is like the complete opposite of that idea, I could do a silent documentary to document the separtation and silence of this desert. It IS a desert - dry. Dra(pause)eye. anyway, back to my comment, I learned that a profound or interesting question is a good icebreaker, and people, strangers, like it when someone asks what they think. The substance of this peice was very good, interesting, and needed. Good job!

Super duper fly! Great inspiration in both ladies the photographer and the filmmaker. We need more stories like this told. Very uplifting and powerful piece of work. I love current but a Pod of this nature is long over due. I'm greenlighting it for sure.

It is a well made piece and tells a great story. We need to document important people (the ones outside of the mainstream idea of importance or celebrity) while they are alive and tell their stories. Good luck to both of you,

Wonderful job Leah and Lauri! The piece is wonderfully shot and the narrative is strong. Lauri is interesting, talented and passionate! There is also a lesson in sharing, empowemwnt, and exploring ! I have a similar background in photography and I was a captive audience throughout! The story is honest and strong! I also learned I am not the only person still shooting with a poloroid 600! Well done! GL!

Hey Leah, thanks for the green, lets make that a double green, luv your piece. Lauri Lyons is a great subject, and that is amazing that she is only the first African American female to be signed with Getty.
Also I noticed the person taking her photo was Terrence Jennings. Do you know him? We went to school together, and i recently ran into him. Then I noticed him on another piece on Current.
Ok hope to see your piece on TV. It was well done.

This is a special film about an important subject matter. Laurie Lyons has given the viewer a unique look at how a working photographer produces quality, inciteful work. Combined with Leah Hamilton's style and cinematic eye brings the viewer into a personal, creative world. I would love to see this film completed and given a show case.

Great subject! I would tighten it up a little; a little long for a current pod. Hey, what do I know? I just think it could be leaner, tighter and more focused.
For example: I would begin the piece when she starts explaining what she has; as she loads her camera. I like to avoid starting with a talking head and you have great footage to do so Maybe use some of the beginning bites later; her schooling is not as compelling as her accomplishments.
BTW, loved how you closed with the opening images
Lauri Lyons rocks!
