When they start the four man throwing/catching session you might wanna fade out the audio and bring up some...anything..just to avoid that engine noise. congrats on an amazing find and good interviewing!

very cool, some of my friends do a similar thing with tennis balls.

Hey jscott, I thought about lowering the sound on the motor, but I have an ambient sound fixation. Good or bad, it makes it more real to me and for some viewers. In this case the sound of the motor is mixed in with some comments made that I think convey the moment. But thanks for the suggestion, I am aware that it can be annoying for some.

Love it - GL all the way. A mono/tripod would have made the camera less distracting but my eyes were fixed on the moving fire regardless.

Your best pod yet mepop. Something I never could have imagined happening. Even less that it has some historical precedence (the piece about this being done in India). Is that true?? Anyway, I like this and I like the sort of raw way you present it.

Always nice to see what new types of cultural sports we as humans create. Would have to have seen this developed into a more in depth story to understand more about why they do this. On a side note I had a very good friend who as a magician who ate fire. He was very good at what he did. One day he burned over 80% of his body. Be careful you fireballers. Seems like your playing with fire... no pun intended.

As for more info about this game, we ran into this story in Vermont at a festival, (We are based in NY) interviewed on the fly. We will be back next year, maybe we will get more info when we are up there next time.

Haha, Dragonball Z. Yeah, that is what it reminds me of. Super Sayan technology. Snake to answer your question, these guys were at an event "Hip Hop in the Hills" that we were covering in Vermont. They were just at the top of one of the hills, and from the valley below all you could see were these tiny globes of fire being tossed around next to a big bonfire, so we decided to investigate.

Looks like this guys bring some entertainment to the beach.People like that its cool and diffrent.

Interesting pod, really crazy stuff. I just wanted to say that in the video, the guy describing what the balls are made of says they're what the, "Sikh-Hindus" used during the Crusades..." First of all, Sikhism and Hinduism are two totally different religions. Sikhism finds it's origins in Hinduism and is practiced mostly by people who are from India, however they are very different. It's a little but like how Buddhism is also similar to Hinduism and it's roots can be traced back to Hinduism, but is definitely not the same faith. Also, I'm really not sure what that guy mean about the "crusades". Indian people didn't fight in the crusades. I still enjoyed the video, just wanted to make sure to spread the accurate words out there.

I found out about this game while I was at college about 7 years ago. It wasn't lit on fire then, it was just a leather ball. I myself added the fire to it, in a drunken stupor I think. It is allegedly based on a Sikh Hindu training technique for their martial art; Gatka. That is how the story goes, I do not know the validity of that story, but hey, it's a story.
