"Shakerleg is the most intense street performer we’ve ever seen or heard. One look at Shakerleg’s wildstyle, stick-free, bare-knuckle drumming and you know he’s more concerned with this moment than a long term career in drumming."

  • Let me be the first to say....amazing video, a little raw and could use a little more editing, besides that I LOVE IT!!!! GL

p.s. THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE ON T.V.

  • I agree I love the raw quality however you can and probably will need to edit it down a bit. The performance sequence is great and the cd cover story, but I personally would lose the trump building axel rose bit. why give axel any light? the piece is about how cool shakerleg is.
    ps I caught a glimpse of your boom-guy, i'm envious. : )
    greenlight and goodluck.

  • Awesome pod! Shakerleg's personality and life story really carry the piece. Excellent job of using many angles to keep things interesting and keep your audience captivated. I agree it could be cut down a bit, but that's only a minor suggestion. GL!
  • SHAKER LEG ROCKS!! good job on the pod
  • enjoyed it through and through, got me hooked to check out his site as well.

As always, edit it down some. I got a little lost in the middle. I thought the Axl bit was interesting to show how he has the hunger to make it, but a part of me thought that was a little sad as well. Who needs Axl? Like jscott says, dont give Axel any light!

  • A guy with talent and a story to tell, plus tight, entertaining treatment -- how can I not give this a GL? You got it!
  • I liked your Black @ White cuts, good job. GL

  • Cut it down.
3-4 minutes would be best unless you have something more compelling than Axel Rose :) Good job with editing.
    Keep shooting.

  • Awesome! Great editing! I did not feel like it was too long and enjoyed the story about bothering Axl's sleep. I definitely disagree with the first comment that it is "raw and could use more editing"....It is nice and tight and I think you rock! GL

  • Oh yeah. I love the story. I'm a big fan of shakerleg, I see him all the time at 59th street and the L train for years! Glad that someone has taken notice of this guy, he needs to be on tv. GL indeed!

  • As a subway performer myself, (in Boston) this was inspiring and increased my motivation for me. PUBLIC ARTISTS are so important and this pod captures some of the raw heart, soul, and entreprenurial spirit of us artists on the front line! Thumbs up for TV airing. -Kari of

  • Great pod - I love your use of two cameras and the way you worked in his music. I also like how you used audio of him talking to the crowd. Greenlight all the way.
  • great editing; nice camera work. pleasure to watch this pod.
i'd love to see even more though: where he lives, closest people to him etc.
but GL anyway -- for 'production values' ;-)

  • really cool dude
  • GL - even though you did not cut it shorter...

  • I agree with MissyG, Awesome! It's nice and tight. GL

  • I've seen this dude before at Union Square! Fresh that you did something with him. I wanted to know more about the shaker myself...and how he came up with his distinct style. The shaker is curious...maybe insignificant, but I wanted to know more about why he uses it. He's such a great character that there just seemed like there was more to him and his act than we were seeing. Anyway, that's nitpicking. Taken as a glimpse into an engaging person's life, this was well-produced and well-edited and I gave you the solid green.

  • Hell yeah! That's my man, Shakerleg who does his thing on the L Train! Thank you for doing this movie on him. You beat me to the punch because Shakerleg's CD is tight. I bought his CD! FIRE! Great film!

  • As a djebe player I wonder how the f*ck does he keep his hands from getting screwed up over time.

Talented, likeable guy. Great promo short (and his website) in the fine tradition of American self-marketing, but personally I would have concentrated more on the musical side..

  • There IS a pod that focuses on just the music. It's number 6 right now which makes no sense because it's unbelievably good. I mean it. Click here and vote GREENLIGHT. BOTH of these should be the top 2 vids. Don't just vote for one!

  • He's got something, but the pod is too long. Cut a minute out of it and I'll give it a greenlight.

  • As a drummer I was really interested to see exactly what his hands and feet were doing but it felt like there were precious few closeups of those actions during his playing. The emotion on his face is nice but more intense hand and foot action might have pumped up the playing sequences more. Maybe it was just because I was so curious. That's the only thing I didn't like though. Very good human study, very well put together. Great work!

  • Greenlight! Check out his site if you want those extra details. He's got several clips up there.
  • Congrats on the first piece on Current !

  • This guy is amazin. The documentary was inviting and it makes you question the artist's backround. I believe he has a biger story to tell. This was well edited, and the story was well told. Green light to the producers.
  • Congrats
    check out my pod

  • i like the subject of the pod too. i think it could benefit from being shorter. i'd lose some his SOTs and include the voice/interview of an onlooker or 'professional'/traditional drummer or doctor. i would have also liked to have seen where he lives...is he a starving artist living in a ny hovel or is he making decent money and work as a lawyer by nite?

at any rate, dude is dope.
