Tainted Coffee: Americans and Democracy.
No great social change has ever occurred without a portion of society deciding that it would no longer tolerate the status quo. The Seeds of Tolerance contest asked us to describe what tolerance means to us. Too often, at the root of tolerance lies a pervasive feeling of putting up with, bearing, and/or withstanding a situation that one wishes would change. When examined, tolerance really means learning to live with a situation, not making it better.
During the 2004 presidential election, America may have been cheated out of being offered a fair and untainted election process. Our purpose in this pod is not to ask one to subscribe to one political ideology over another, nor is it to stand on a soapbox to preach a solution. Rather we simply wish to demonstrate that in the void that exists between the individual and the government there lies a space that contains meaning—no matter whether the individual decides to act or not. Through the people we interview we want to show that when tyranny is tolerated this space becomes filled with crippling apathy. Once again, we have no answers or solutions. We have neither the space nor the audacity to suggest them, but we feel it our duty to ask, as we asked ourselves, how much will you tolerate?

  • What are you gonna do? Well, we can take our country back by getting active. This is a terrific video and I only wish our media gurus would follow this example.

  • I think this video reminds people of the power we have in the voting booth. I wonder why the author did not interview the "white collar" person?

  • Great pod really shows the disipointment of people, we are disenfranchised the continueing what can I do, what are ya going to do, really shows our loss of power and unity as well as the apathy that we all have to some degree. what does it take for all of us do get off our ass. Our own gov blowing up the twin towers didn't seem to do it so who knows. We are kept so busy with just trying to get by that we don't do a damn thing.

    Nice Pod

  • Great topic! It is very true that everyone is angry about these issues. We know the American people were cheated, that AL Gore was cheated. We know the election was fixed. But what are people doing about it? How can we tolerate this injustice? Nice video.
  • Really interesting topic. Love you video! I also really like how you use the black bar to cover people' face. That's so creative :) Keep up the good work!
  • Great pod! SHEEP don't have any rights. Get involved in your government, starting at local levels. Where are our leaders? So many blind followers without a leader...GL
