The Farm is a spiritual intentional community in Summertown, Tennessee, based on
principles of nonviolence and respect for the Earth. The Farm was
founded in 1971 by Stephen Gaskin and 320 San Francisco hippies.
The focus of this eco tour video-pod is on the Ecovillage Training
Center, a learning center for sustainability founded by Albert Bates.
The Ecovillage Training Center is a living workshop environment where
you can learn organic food production, natural building, permaculture
and how to create and live in harmony within the means of nature. This
video pod is an educated walkthrough intended to create a window into
some of these eco methodologies and green technologies as well as
thoughts and ideas by Albert regarding the creation of an ecovillage
and the need to scale down our wants and needs.

I found this very inspiring. There is hope! I wish. I wish. I wish. And, I'll keep on wishing. Thank you!
-
Great segment! I found it very enlighting and would like to find out more on subjects like this one. I Look forward to seeing what's next.
-
A little long but a great message. GL
-
I really like the concept, but I didn't greenlight it because it is a little long and rambling. A condensed version, or maybe a voice-over for transitions would get my vote.
-
While this segment is a little longer than most on Current, it offers educational content that most viewers should slow down and absorb - it might change lives. The skills and values presented resonate strongly with this accidentally successful old man. I wonder how my children will live happily, as they may have artificial Suburban expectations. Btw, Current is my new ally in expanding my kid's perspectives - thank you for the wonderful creative work.

This is great. As far as I'm concerned, you can't put a time limit on a message of sustainability. As a climber I'm fortunate to experience some of the last great amazing places on earth, and struggle to preserve and protect our natural environment in every way I can. I think too many people are absorbed in human "progress", and although they may be aware of certain environmental threats we cause everyday, they are unaware of how to prevent further damage. There are so many simple little things we can do. While living in an eco-village might be a bit far fetched, I think everyone can take something from the idea, and pitch in to the future. I'm not a hippie, I'm just concerned for my space ball. Nice one. GL

Cheers dharmadog! We would all do well to invest the time; 12+ minutes in this case, to watch this fun, and valuable short. Sadly, we have become a fast-food, Walmart, MTV nation, addicted to all things fast. Our attention spans, and discrimination for real value are rapidly depleting, together with oil, and ozone. In the time it took to watch this valuable peice, I sat in line at the drive-through Starbucks, and picked-up my weekend latte! It was worth the wait!
-
Pieces like this have such value - thanks for making it. Yes it is long for Current, but I was engaged throughout. Well done.

I like this piece. I don't know if I'm ready for living in the eco village, but it gives a lot of good ideas for scaling back your lifestyle and being good to the earth. Keep up the good work. Very informative. Follow up pieces could be how-to's for living the lifestyle.
-
loved this piece! i'm not quite sure i espouse a hippie aesthetic in terms of living in an ecovillage, but sustainability must be nurtured and embraced in all its forms if we are to have much of a future at all. the world over is entrenched in a voracious materialism which has proven detrimental not only to the planet in its efforts to sustain and replenish its natural resources but to people and their living conditions. if we don't start taking note, and make the time to learn from caring individuals as Mr. Bates, the predicament we and the coming generations will be facing shall prove all-too bleak. BTW, anyone out there who enjoyed this pod and is interested in learning more about sustainability, permaculture and restoration ecology methods should do well to check out the Long Now Foundation.

Excellent video, I'm always intrigued by alternative building techniques and have researched the topic extensively myself. How marvelous that these sorts of things are still going on, and going strong 40 years later. A triumph of the will to succeed, and a testament to power of nature and it's ability to sustain us when we work in harmony with it rather than attempt to tame it. Greenlighted! -zen
-
current needs to just pick up these things and play them on the air.. I might see why they wouldn't just pick it. Maybe they think it is too long, maybe they dont think the topic is cool. who knows... but this is so worthwhile in the larger scope of our current society, moreso than wrestling mascots that is for sure.

Very interesting. I didn't even know that eco-villages existed. This should definitely be on TV so more people can learn about this subject! Happy to give it a GL!
Please check out my piece "Talon the Warlord: IT Specialist":
link was part of the IDC competition. Thanx!-

This is important to watch. There are other sustainable communities out there not as rustic, the important thing is to show it can be done! GL
-
I can't believe this didn't make it to tv. I don't get it. This was an excellent pod with loads of information. I'm going to show it to my grade 6 class.
I would love to get your opinion on my pod "small town climate change"
Please click on my head and leave a message to keep the conversation going.
Thank you.
