My submission "SPIT IT OUT - The Rap on Homo Hop" takes an in-depth look at intolerance of gay performers in Hip Hop music via frank interviews with recording artists and producers as well as fans of the genre. These bi, gay and straight opinions and personal experiences highlight and challenge the current condition of intolerance and narrow in on the influences of these limited beliefs. "SPIT IT OUT" further inspires positive transformation by educating and encouraging the Current TV audience, straight hip hop artists, music fans, the media and people committed to social change (but perhaps unaware of this specific prejudice) to stand with us to combat stereotypes and help promote awareness that will bring Hip Hop into the 21st Century. I encourage people to also remember Rap was born as an outlet for the oppressed. It is hypocritical if it segregates or suppresses any individual's truth or freedom of speech. Gay and lesbian rappers have poignant experiences, and unique and powerful voices that have to be shared.
