Despite their purpose, all forms of our media ranging from television, music, films, etc?are not a reflection of the society we embody in America. Without question, media drives this country and is used to depict life to millions. Hollywood, the Mecca of entertainment, fails to truthfully represent the diverse society that embraces it. This unfortunate reality is the core reason this subject matter is so meaningful. Though evident that there are notable minorities in Hollywood, in comparison to their white male counterparts they are greatly minimal in number and at times go unnoticed. Minorities behind the scenes seem to get the short end of the stick with regard to working and receiving the most sought after positions of creativity and power. As one of the most culturally diverse nations in the world, this is contradictory to what we stand for. This imbalance of representation imparts a picture of America that is flawed and bias. ?Hollywood Wears a Mask? delves into diversity behind the scenes of the entertainment industry. Industry professionals and aspiring enthusiasts all lend their voices to discuss this topic candidly. In hopes to inspire positive change in Hollywood, we acknowledge those who contribute to making the great screen gems of tomorrow and allow these individuals to express their opinions and concerns on this controversial issue. The subject is a dynamic one, well suited for its time and vital for minorities who both inspire and aspire to work in entertainment.

This video was absolutely amazing! I really enjoyed how it was told in first person and really allowed different people to give their views of the industry as a whole.
-
This video really embraced the race issue that is prevalent in every work place in America, yet is so very often and conveniently over looked. I would love to see more black television shows, and shows depicting people from all walks of life. We are such a beautiful and talented people. So many of our ideas have improved as well as built so much of what America is today.

I think is important to surface the bias stereotypes in Hollywood. By making them known; this will allow young entrepreneurs of all cultures, races and creed to be recognized and respected because of their talent and not pushed a side because of their origin. I like that the production and I wish you ladies the best!

This is an ongoing issue that we must continue address. Even though people are not confronted as much by hate groups these days, there is a different kind of prejudging that takes place. The covert discrimination that takes place in our homes, schools, churches, businesses, etc. is just as dangerous as the overt variety. This sickness still spreads daily. It is our responsibility to continue to educate the ignorant and be the voices crying out. Thank you for presenting this topic from so many viewpoints and backgrounds. Please continue to cry out!

What a great social commentary. The subject is the obvious which is generally ignored. Keep the truth out there.

I think that this video is awesome, it really touched some sore spots that society may not be aware of. I also like the fact that everyday people told the story. Big Ups to the producers, editors, and the cast good job.

It's not every day that a documentary like this comes along.
Not only has this piece shed light on a subject that is so very often overlooked; but it empowers minorities along with the majorities to bring entertainment in another direction; to the actual people who live in this world. -
Very thought provocative, it held my attention and expanded my awareness to the subject.
-
I love this documentary very much. I wouldn't change a thing about it. The main point that I love is that it expresses the true about Hollywood life. I incourage my family to watch this documentary.Great Work!~~Chiquita Phillips

Powerful and thought-provoking. This is a wake up call for Hollywood and America. I left the piece thinking "How as black people in film do we command the world's attention? What are we teaching the world about itself and ourselves? What will it take for us to have a fuller voice in the entertainment industry?" I applaud your vision and your masterful editing together of poignant comments into a documentary that grabs our attention and gets us reflecting together as white people and people of color on this very important topic. Thank you, thank thank you!

I liked that people were able to address the blind issues in Hollywood. Some people aren't able to recognize the diversity sometimes they just like what they see but do not realize the discrimination.

It was good, exposing Hollywood. It could have used some teen energy. Next time come to Walker and ask us, or go to a school in LA. We know you are goiing to do well. When you add to it, let us know. We'll tell you the truth! Great Job!
