- VC2 on TV (6310)
- VCAM (792)
- Mountain Dew VCAM (94)
This V-CAM, was shot on a old tube camera from 1983. I have always been obsessed with television fitness programs, and I thought that the subject matched the high energy image of Mountain Dew. This is my analog homage to the history of sweating on TV. Four more... Three more... Two More...
Starring Shirley, Naoko, Adele Phi, Lulu, and Simone, with the infamous Sleazy Azizi as the fitness instructor. Make up by Camilla Ha. Music by Strepsata.

nice production, take that hairy guy out and it's a winner.....he does not belong in this and only makes this spot memorable for being creepy and hairy....
-
Y'know, it'd probably take you a week to get that look through digital processing. Great deployment of equipment, clever idea, and a skewed approach to the Dew persona. Yeah, gets a GL.

I completely disagree with the hairy guy comment, the hair man makes this piece so completely european and even more surreal!

Greenlight for production design and costume design. Another greenlight for use of analog 80s camera - looks great. If only you could use one of those 80s songs ("Oh Mickie you're so fine... OH MICKIE!") to go with it... [sigh]
-
this is pure genius. it's cliche where it needs to be, it's sexy, it's funny, it's great visually without looking too stuffy...great job!

Sexy, i can't stop staring at the girl's underwear! Either that makes me a perv or this is a successful ad. Because I'm about to go buy me a mountain dew. GL.

It's hot and it's cool. I love the hot girls and the message gets through. I bet they want to show this in other countries. It's too sensual for puritan minds here. Great work U &K

Nice camera work and use of color. Analog? WOW. GL

Great colors and movement! I'm not crazy about the music, but that's a personal thing I guess. The looks on the girls' faces are priceless! If you have a moment, please check out my latest pod, GLAMAZONIA, and let me know what you think.

Mountain Dew lowers your sperm count I've heard, but regardless of that the girls are sexy and I could go for one (Mountain Dew) right now.

Does anybody care that we are investing so much time, energy, creativity (our mot prescious resources as artists/human beings) making corporate propaganda to sell children and semi-brain dead adults (their parents?) on products that only harm people and make the world a worse place? Mountain Dew is one of the worst offenders on so many levels: environmentally, cuturally, health, etc.
Do you ever think about what you are dedicating your creative talents to?
Just asking? -
First, thanks everyone for the great feedback. I'm absolutely thrilled that people like my little ad. It's my first attempt at doing anything even remotely "commercial."
Second, to address the previous comment: Mountain Dew and Current are giving a starving artist a chance to make some money on their creative skills. Really, where else could I just pop in out of nowhere and get an opportunity to do that? And get my stuff broadcast, to top it all off. Ideally, I'd love to make a living off of my skills and creativity. Who wouldn't? If Mountain Dew is going to give me a little boost in that direction, great!
Also, speaking from a more personal point of view, I was having a creative block. Making this ad was a lot of fun and getting positive feedback was so encouraging that it melted my artisitc freeze. So even if I don't make a cent, it's been a useful experience because kept me working and excercising my creativity and skills even when I wasn't feeling my most brilliant. If I needed something as playful as a soft drink ad to get my juices flowing again, so be it.
Anyway, I share your concerns about health and environmental issues (a glance around my kitchen and you'd know I was a total health nut). But sometimes I just need to smile, relax, and muck about in pop culture just a bit. Because in the end, it's just an ad, right? And I like to think the the Current audience is savvy enough that if they don't like a product for one reason or another, then even the best, most appealing ads can't persuade them. Think about the audience. It's not really a channel for young impressionable children, afterall. They strike me as people who make their own informed descisions.
That's my two cents.

I completely agree art vamp. I've had the exact same experience here on current, And I too feel that it is an excellent way to be seen, get feedback and do something I normally do. It's a great creative outlet.

You damn right! Out of all the things going wrong in the world making mountain dew commercials is low on my list. I too am a starving artist just fresh out of film school. I wish I could be paid to indulge my artistic wiles and maybe one day I will. Until then I plan on selling out all the way to the bank. This is a great way to create, get noticed, and possibly get some cash without being owned by a company. Someone once told me: Your not a real artist, all the real artists have been snatched up by the ad agencies.
As far as these personal attacks below go don't even give them a thought. Letting anyone who calls themselves illmitchfan get under your skin is a waste of time.-

nice concept.
As far as background you should have had at least added a flash background of a couple second for certain parts!

Try using .mov for your compression it will make your content much clearer -
could also be an American Apparel commercial too, lol
