Welcome to Blue Chips. Blue Chips is a new trend to urban retail stores. It's been open to the Highland Park community as of November 27, 2004. Based in Northeast Los Angeles, the founders of Blue Chips strategically opened the doors to a long awaited new era 'life-style' retail store. Blue Chips offers a unique personal approach to retail by intergrading the arts to it's merchandise and products. The founders of Blue Chips and associates range from clothing graphic designers, artists, photographers, publicists, and deejays, to film and record producers. Blue Chips is represented by the lifestyles people live, work, and create. As a store Blue Chips reflects the production of a mass collaboration of the arts. Blue Chips offers it's customers a wide range of products such as male/female and children's clothing, leather goods, shoes, new and used records, compact discs, hats, caps, jewelry, accessories, books, magazines, and hand bags. You can count on finding something urbanely unique at Blue Chips. Our vision here at Blue Chips is shared with the labels, manufacturers, designers we represent overall, to bring something fresh, organic, and special to Los Angeles. The BLUE GALLERY is located under the same roof, within the store, it's continuosly exhibiting shows and open to the arts for future shows. Call the Blue chips store for more info on current and upcoming events. Blue Chips is located in Highland Park, a historical suburb to the pioneers of early Los Angeles, rich in culture sicne it's Southwest natives. The blue chips name was conceived by the old blue chips concept of together in it to give back.
In L.A. blue and canvas white, Blue Chips welcomes you to our store and gallery.

  • As with your description, I feel that this pod is too long. Cool store, cool images, not enough story for almost 5 full minutes.
  • we used to have a store like this in SF, "future primitive sound".. It shut down last year. sad sad day when that happened. ;(...

yeah bro, shorten this, less talking, more immagery.. like the urbanation pods... change up the beats in the back and I bet current might pick this up and forget the voting.

  • A breath of uniqueness in a chain-store world -- good story. I agree with ForgetSilence & migsono that this runs a bit long; definitely there are too many purely static shots that could be cut. In any case, the piece overall is cool, so GL.

Shameless Plug: Please check out my latest pod, LLOYD KAUFMAN crosses that line. Thanks!
  • Support small business give it a green light
  • Very interesting story, a slap on the face to Big-retailers stores. More support to local artist and their contribution to the cultural landscape of this country. Green light all the way!

  • SUPPORT BLUE CHIPS AND LOCAL BUSINESS, NO BIG BOX RETAIL..
  • In the two years this place has been in business, I have been there a handful of times. It is slowly gaining momentum in finding its niche, but word of mouth is still needed. Making a vision into a reality is a tough business, especially in the land of millions of dreamers. The Blue Chips ideal is powerful though, and anyone loosely affiliated with the arts should support it! The artists the store features, like Emi M, Antonio Pelayo, and Timoi, are prime examples of L.A.'s finest artists.

As for the video itself, too long. The story Karla is telling is vital, but could be shortened (w/o losing the naturality) more succinctly with the imagery. Otherwise, not a bad start!
