In this present time, we live in a world of violence. Bush went to war with Bin Laden in the name of God. While, Bin Laden started the war, in the name of Allah. Is Islam a peaceful religion? I went to the streets and parks to find out.. Tarik Sayeed

I found the most revealing portion to be the man in front of the fence who goes "Mmmmm I don't know enough...but my impression is....no".
It's in that moment of "mmm" that the rubber hits the road. Everyone else is being polite because they are on camera. So it goes. -
Saying that a non-believer is going to hell is no different than what others from different religions believe. Why should Muslims feel bad about that and when there are Evangelical Christians who say that if you don't take Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior then you'll burn in hell??????????? I don't think that the people on camera were trying to be "polite". If anything they could probably see the hypocricy in what you were probably trying to promote.

I'm not sure I understand the message here. If average citizens do not hold negative impressions of Islam and remain tolerant when confronted with a few incendiary statements, then I am impressed -- good for them! It may have been more interesting, however, had you obtained reactions to similar passages from the bible, for example.

The Qur'an translated means 'book of peace'. Islam teaches peace and the ways to follow G-d's laws.

I am muslim N my religion teaches me 2 respect other people religion n that god will take care of them. he is the 1 who will judge not me or u.There can only b 1 true religion.

Nice idea, but you should do you research first.... the translation does not match what we hear.... what we are hearing is the call to prayer... it says nothing about the things you talk of....
The real meaning of what we hear is
Allahu Akbar
Allah is Great
(said four times)
Ashhadu an la ilaha illa Allah
I bear witness that there is no god except the One God (Allah).
(said two times)
Ashadu anna Muhammadan Rasool Allah
I bear witness that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah.
(said two times)
Hayya 'ala-s-Salah
Hurry to the prayer (Rise up for prayer)
(said two times)
Hayya 'ala-l-Falah
Hurry to success (Rise up for Salvation)
(said two times)
Allahu Akbar
Allah is Great
[said two times]
La ilaha illa Allah
There is no god except the One God (Allah)
For the pre-dawn (fajr) prayer, the following phrase is inserted after the fifth part above, towards the end:
As-salatu Khayrun Minan-nawm
Prayer is better than sleep
(said two times)-

Wow, definitely no greenlight.
The translation does not in any way match the Adhan.
Honestly, you tried to portray Islam in a bad light, especially showing those verses and only those verses. Yet it still sparked interest and people said it was like heaven and hell etc. -
Research is on the way.. And a much better constructive version is on the works.. This short was done in a day to check if there were enough interests..
You are right.. It is the Azan you are hearing.. "Call for prayers".. There is no way it can match the phrases I have shown.. The Azan was used as a back ground noise and nothing else..
And for those of you who don't believe the phrases.. It's there in the Quran.. Don't pick just one Quran.. Pick a few and then compare the exact phrases from each translation..
Don't just read it.. Open your mind and then read it.. -
lol.. talk about being a bit obsessed with islam!
so you first
1- selectively chose the worst parts of the quran, where are NOT as bad or even violent as some verses in the bible
2- took the trouble to make a video of people, asking them these questions... people who themselves say they don't know enough about the religion
3- then showed them your selected verses - no objective and balanced view of islam given
4- for what? to spread intolerance. lol. -
I have no idea how to feel about this video - on one hand, the people on the video seem good, but the quotes are taken horribly out of context - could have taken a bunch of super positive verses as well, or, if you only wanted to have negative verses [which, first of all, don't really translate well to English] at least having longer passages. The video kinda fails to answer the question in the title. Maybe it should have been called "10 people's thoughts on religion" or something. Hopefully we'll get more background info and research next time before putting stuff like this out there. good luck with your next pod!
Anyways, God knows best!-

well at least these people were tolerant... but i would like to have seen what a person who said "yes it is a violent religion" prior to seeing those excerpts

Like mentioned in the video. "Religion is what you make of it." Islam like all other religions has its pros and cons but the cons are mostly due to individual’s misinterpretation of it or political influences. The director picked negative quotes to continue the negative stereotypes which I don’t agree with. If you’re going to do a film on comparing if the religion is peaceful or not, don’t just focus on the negative.
