Tesla's CEO Martin Eberhard is helping shape a future without gas. Seemingly out of nowhere, he has drawn upon the power of labtop lithium batteries to power an entirely electric car that does 0-60 faster than a Mercedes and goes for up to 250 miles at about 2 cents a mile before it needs recharging. This car IS the future.

  • do electric cars have more potencial for performance than cars which consume gasoline?
  • Does a commissioned Pod really count as "Picked for TV"

I love the subject., no problem with it being on. It just seems like something commissioned was picked for TV before it was even made. . . :)

  • I was hoping there were companies like this hiding in the shadows!
  • Great concept, great company. 6,831 batteries? Man I'd hate to have to change those, or figure out which one went south when it does. These cars do cost $100,000 though, so it's practically out of reach to anyone watching your network IMHO. I'd Love to see more stories on the Plug-in-Hybrid conversion kits which cost about $10K on a $30K Prius and get 100mpg, those at least would be financially feasible for many of us. -zen

  • Needs differing perspective: lithium ion batteries might be far more environmentally toxic than standard automobile emissions.
  • Fantastic editing-it would be nice to get an expanded version with more technical information
