  • I enjoyed the interviews and the candid responses. Good luck.
  • I thought this was cool. I especially liked the comments about the superbowl snickers bar commercial...

I'm not sure we're ready to get past gender stereotypes yet, but we're getting closer in some areas... I'd be interested to see a similar piece on "what is a woman"

    Good idea for a discussion.

Please click on my head, I'd like your opinion on my pod small town climate change, and please add to the discussion. Thanks.
  • That is a loaded question, yet very intersting were the responce. Good luck with your video. I fight everday to help people see what is a man or a woman. Our genitals do not make us who we are. check out my pod, In God's Image.

  • Great to have someone show what people are really thinking. Check out marvio's video "In God's Image"
  • (full disclosure: I am 100% homosexual and always have been attracted to men and have realized in mid-age that I actually like being a man and not afraid of what others think. I have strong opinions about men and masculinity that don't conform to either conventional or feminist povs)

    re: the pod
I think it's terrible. Very few men actually try to do the talking in this pod. The woman interviewing is overbearing and finishes the men's comments by inserting her own words. And the comments are trite feminism at its worst. I was very disappointed to see it decline into a chat about metrosexuals. I think modern men (srt8 gay bi whatever) need to get over this "walking on eggshells" response when asked about masculinity and being male. If we don't start speaking frankly and taking bigger risks in embracing change, the jokers on Blue Collar Comedy and the religious fundamentalists and feminist academics will define manhood for us. That would be sad.

    So here's my spew:
    a) men are beautiful, no less than women.
    b) men take risks and advance knowledge.
    c) men are expendible in biology and in society and that's what makes them create myths about manhood.
    d) Men die in coal mines and wars and ghetto gang fights. It's not news. It's expected. It's also why men have fears about alot of things.
    e) strong men should be more heroic and defend the weak, including weaker men, pansies, sissies and all around fey guys. I dream of the day when the high school quarterback disrupts a high school gay bashing to rescue the most fem boy in the school. That's a man.
    f) men are quicker to sacrifice themselves for others, this trait should not be exploited by governments who send them to fight unjust wars.
    g) society rather see men fight each other or die in battle than make love to each other. That sucks.
    h) open homosexuality should not be confined to urban gay ghettos.
    i) Str8 men should really think about the price they pay personally for the culture of fear and loathing of homosexuals. Many str8 men find greater support and uncritical affection from so called gay men than they do from the women they know.
    j) Religion is way off base today as the world goes to hell in a hand basket and they all complain about gay marriage. The reason is that religion has a role in denying male beauty and in supporting the expendibility of males in work and conflict.

So to all the males out there who think about this—don't hold your breath for God and Country. They just as soon see you dead. See your manhood as a gift as any gender identity should be. There is no reason to be ashamed of being a man unless other men act shamefully and call it masculine. Bravery and heroism and stoicism have their place—you never know when you need to draw on those. But feeling deeply and loving deeply and acting from the heart is no less masculine. Men die for love. It's true. Men should learn to live for it too. The world would be a better place if old bitter men didn't have the power to send young men to their deaths for greed and grandeur.

  • I think you should have talked to more men. Also I think a "man" is defined by his/her community standards. Communites with low standards will have poor quality men. What makes a woman?
