This video is an educational piece regarding one transsexual man's journey into manhood. Interviews with a surgeon and psychotherapist.

This is an enlightening video, well edited, and very honestly done. There should be no question that this young man deserves every opprotunity to succeeed in his chosen and truly appropriate masculine role. Mark you would be fully
accepted in society right now, but being an
activist and getting rest is often a conflict of terms.
Spend just a few minutes with Mark and you'll
be a believer. I am.-

I just want to thank you for all you do. Maybe someday we'll all be seen as just human beings.

Great pod, important subject... done with honesty and courage. Still, I feel there can be improvement in the editing...
-
Monard20, I appreciate your honesty. This is my first video, and I am a self taught editor. Editing is not easy, I tip my hat to those who do the job on a daily basis. My goal was to get a message accross, since I have had a hard time finding people in the film industry to work with and trust. I will get better at it, what is that saying practice makes perfect. To all others who have commented on my video, thank you. I strive for improvement on a daily basis, and I appreciate your comments and support.
-
A very good message that is well told. GL.
As for the editing i found the embellished transitions a little much. Sometimes a simple cross fade will be more effective and not as intrusive. Another thing that will improve your work is the sound levels, they were fine except in a few spots. Always keep in mind what the focus is on- the music or the person speaking.
As for your first piece, great work and I hope to see more in the future.

It's shocking to me that the concept of transsexual is something that so many can't deal with.
There will come a day when we will look at each other only as people... but we're not there yet. Keep talking; it helps the rest of us understand more.
Brave piece.

Thank you for posting this, it is really a big help. I am engaged to a FtM, and we can identify totally with this video. Excellent job.

I want to thank everyone for your wonderful comments. For those that have viewed the video, yet did not want to register, please realize that the only way we are going to make a difference in this world is if we get exposure. A 5 minute procedure is well worth the rewards if this pod goes live on TV. I have done the work, now all you have to do is vote. There have been over 700 views, but only 30 registered voters. How can we be heard? I am disappointed and hurt. I do much for the trans community, but the community will not do much for itself? Please do not be afraid to provide your information. I ask you please take the time and vote.

The story is interesting, but your serious audio issues are detracting so much from this. I'd suggest doing a total audio remix and balance all the interviews to the same levels, also your music is drowning out many interviews such as the opening one, and you end the music abruptly which is odd. Some interviews are soft, some are loud, some in the middle. They need to all be the same levels.
I also think this pod runs way too long, with some good cutting this could be a much tighter and effective 5 minute piece. But these are just my creative criticisms, take them for what they are. Overall this is pretty good, keep making pods -zen -
Zen,
Thank you for your feedback. I am rather new at this, and the program I have for editing is not very sophisticated. I will try to improve my work as I grow and learn more. As far as cutting it down to 5 minutes, I am afraid it would lose it's message. I will try to upload a new version with better sound mix levels, and lower the music a bit. Once again, thank you for your feedback. This is a learning experience for me and I am humbled by all the great response and feedback.
Respectfully

Great work, Mark. Telling the story of your own experience is so important, and helps so many other people. You could tighten this up, though. I know you have an investment in every word, but put yourself in the place of your audience and think about how much they can take in at a time. You might think about making several short pods as opposed to a long one, or a longer film that isn't intended for internet viewing (right now it seems the internet viewing public believes that short is better, and that may not always be true). But keep working at it! You're doing great, and your work WILL make a difference!

great work. I think like others have said here, you could tighten it up some. The nice thing is that when you have such strong content, fancy transitions and effects are totally unnecessary, if not distracting. I am impressed that you are willing to reveal yourself so much. I'm not sure you have to though. Either way, I'd like to see this one make it to tv.
-
Very interesting subject, I was a little frustrated with the fact that you kept cutting off the end of your sentances. Just like everyone else has said, if you clean it up and loose the crazy transitions it will be much better.
-
I feel there's so many details about transitioner's, and trying to explain all of them to someone is pain staking, let alone all the people that you meet who know about you and ask a million and one Q's. The more documentary's we can put out there the less the transitioner's in the future will have to explain and maybe there won't be so much hate either. Thanks Mark for all that your doing for us.
-
I think this is a subject matter that should definitely be on Current and like me, audio is holding you back. If it's possible to fix it, you should have at it.
I think if you repackage this, and cut it down to 5 to 7 mintues, keeping only the the pertinent info this should make it. Also you may want to try different music. Something less "corporate video, educational video". I felt that I learned alot, but I didn't feel too much which I think in essence is what you want. Draw me in. I really liked the subject matter and the conversation it brings up. GL for a great first effort. -
I just don't dig it man. I've watched it several times and I just can't bring myself to vote for it. The editing is sloppy. The transitions are cheesy. All the monologues given by the author of this piece are way over the top, melodramatic, and unbelieveable. The scene with the genital examination was abrupt and akwardly placed. As a transman myself, I love to see well done and informative documentaries about the things we have to deal with as transfolk. This just doesn't cut it.
-
Dstubbs,
I have learned one things since I have been an adovacte for trans folks, you can't please everyone. I have been on countess TV appearances, have helped many film makers with their documentaries, have been on panels, for colleges, bu I am not a professional film maker,.Yet, I do have the passion, heart and soul to get our message across. The individuals you claim are being mellow dramatic are professionals who took their time to help with trans education. What they speak is the truth and it is as real as it gets. I don't know what world you live in, but these professional deal with trans people daily. In addition to my edititing, I have a window media player which came with my lab top which I have never used prior to this film, and yes I know it shows. I don't claim to be a pro. I was in the works of making a full hour documentary when things went bad between the production company/film makers and I. So I decided to go at it on my own. Because the need for me to help educate the world is bigger than my inabilities to edit or the fear that I would fail. What have you done for our community? It is easy to be a critique, it takes work to do something to generate information and help the future trans generation. I am sorry you did not dig it. But I did not do it for you. I did it for the young, lost, scared souls and those parents that are being faced with children who are diagnosed with gender variance. I am learning, and will continue to try to perfect my piece. This is my first work ever, I am proud of myself, as are many people. Once again, thank you for your critique and taking the time to watch the film, twice. Oh by the way, I donw loaded a new version. As I get better with my window media program, I will continue to improve my work. I suggest if you feel my work is so poor, that you take it upon yourself to help or make constructive criticism so that we can bring forth the message of tolerance to our world.
Mark Angelo -
Hello everyone,
I have down loaded a shorter and better edited version, I hope current gets it on the air soon. I want to thank all that have guided and given me constructive criticism. I am very new at this and learning with each passing day. My intentions with this project was to bring light to a subject that has been ignored or not given the proper attention. There are many suffering children, young adults, and adults who are faced with gender dysphoria. There have been many murders and suicides because of this condition. I am dedicating this video to Gwen and all of those beautiful souls who are no longer with us. Please as soon as Current downloads my new version, watch it, and continue to give me your feedback. I hope this new version is more up to par.
The new version I cut down to 6:45 approx, I also hope it flows better.
Regards
Mark Angelo -
Hi Mark,
I gave this video a green light for many reasons.
I have read a various array of comments pertaining to your first attempt at going it alone.
I know how you had placed your trust in a company and fellow sister. I know how you got dealt a raw hand that you did not deserve.
I also know how devastating this had to be and yet you stood up and dusted your self off and jumped right back in there. For what? I mean why bother right ?
Wrong, you did it for people like me and all the rest of the hurting gender conflicted souls who are at the ends of their ropes. Giving up and ready to call it quits and just vanish from the memories of the ones who have and are making it in this life.
What a waste of precious lives. I too almost became a forgotten soul leaving here with a legacy of only pain and suffering behind.
I commend you and pray daily for you and what you have in your heart to do. Only you Mark can fill this need and that is why you have it so deep in your loving heart.
So what if it did not come out so perfect that every one applauded. Who cares ? My first try at creating a web page came out looking worse then my 8 year old nieces page and yet now I can hang right in there.
The first tries at putting on make up made me look like a clown from hell but I now get compliments.
Don't waste your time defending your self. Just move on and keep on doing what is in your heart.
Soon before you know it you will find your self in a place where these people will still be criticising everything and you will be known for your OUT STANDING work that you are doing.
Yea I believe in Mark and perhaps there is a reason I do. All I can say is this. Thank god for some one willing to stand up and make a difference for all of us nobodies just wanting to be somebody in some ones heart.
Forever and a day I will stand in the gap.
Peace , Hugs and Tears

I think most people are interested in this subject matter and knows someone who knows someone else who is going through this.
I have a friend who has a son who is now a daughter. She has not gone through with the operation's yet, but would like to.
GL! And thanks for voting on ANY DAD 1 & 2!

Touches on some complicated issues, but does make the point that there are no easy answers in this situation. Much as I think DStubbs overreacted, he does have a point in that your on-cameras feel stiff and overrehearsed. In the future, try to have someone behind the camera to conduct an actual interview, touching on the points you want to cover, then cut from that.
But this is an interesting, sensitive presentation that covers a lot of ground in very little time, and definitely conveys that the filmmaker knows from whence he speaks. That's good for a GL.-

This allows understanding what these persons suffer. It is done by valor and feeling.
