The reason we are here is to protest about the way Melodie Scott has handled many of the conservative duties resulting in many familes losing every thing they have built up over a life time.
The Current State of Californias LAW concerning conservatorship
Under California law, a private conservator or guardian may be appointed by a court to care for a person who is unable to provide properly for his or her personal needs or is substantially unable to manage her or his own financial resources.
This is one of the biggest problems with this system. Is that people like Melodie Scott Pry on anyone that looks or needs conservatorship with out looking for or asking about next of kin or family memebers.
People like Melodie Scott can go into the over staturated Probate Court system reslutling in the Rubber Stamp of probate LAW.
There are many problems with the current probate LAW. That people like melodie scott can make huge mark up charges like upgrading the paitiecne houses before putting them into a rest home, upping the value of the estate. Before selling it to cover her fraudulant huge charges she charged her clients to do her so-called duties as a Conservator.
Consider the case of Elizabeth Fairbanks conserved by Melodie Scott. Fairbanks came down with pneumonia. Conservator Melodie Z. Scott had previously obtained an Advance Directive for Health care, WITHOUT THE CONSENT of Fairbanks and utilized her power to order that Fairbanks NOT Receive life saving antibiotics. As A Result of this decision Elizabeth Fairbanks Died.
It Appears Fairbanks money went to pay Melodie Scotts expenses as Conservator.
Well All have parents. We may not all have wealthy parents but we all wish the best for our parents in there sunset years. None of us wish for our parents the Fate that Elizabeth Fairbanks , who is only one of many so Cared for by Melodie Scott.
If you are concerned about this we are asking that you contact the state attorney generals office.

We also had a small confrontation with the Redlands police department that resulted in ones arrest.
Hopefully all this can and will be changed in the future.
Thank you for watching this current event .

There's a REAL story here, but the technical issues overshadow any merit in it, and make it impossible to follow. This needs a lot of work.
On the surface: Camera has a dirty lens. You have really bad audio during the interviews (you are using an on-camera mic and are too far away from your subjects). I can't hear what your subjects are saying over the background noise (traffic noise, people talking, etc.). Don't be afraid to get right in your subject's face so if you HAVE to use an on camera mic we can hear them clearly. Ideally you should get a shotgun microphone or a decent stick (cardiod or omnidirectional) microphone.
Editing: Avoid cube rotate, page flip transitions, and every other cliche' effect in your editing software. Stick to straight cuts and crossfades, 99% of those slick transistions are never used in any type of professional video and they cheapen your production's message.
I don't know if this pod clearly explained to the viewer what conservatorship is. An interview with someone who's been wronged by a conservator (a family member for instance) would be a good way to explain this angle more.
The positives: Your b-roll and commentary you put over it is much better than the intro. The photos work, but not the very small ones.
I'd break the "Description" on this page into chunk sized paragraphs from the long rambling mess it is now. I can't read it the way it is right now. Make it cohesive.
And to end, you CAN improve. I encourage you to read the Current TV training guide as a starting point to shooting better video on your next pod.

I also believe that there is more here than meets the eye--I think you may be onto a really hot topic. Suggest you re-do, and focus more on the individual stories.
You have done a decent job at introducing the subject matter, but it needs more depth. -
same complaints as zenbeer...you've got a great idea...just improve on it :-)

I'd like to see more detail on one particular person to really drive home the human element. Perhaps try to get an interview, or at least the rejection of the interview.
I liked your voice over, but like zen said, stay away from the flashy transitions.
Don't abandon this story though, I think it's worth telling.
Good luck.

You have a great story idea, we just want to see your drive it home my friend. Unpolished is fine as a goal for a story, but not if it interferes with getting your message to your audience.
Just get closer to your subjects, and monitor the audio always with a good set of headphones. An Adzen is a fine shotgun mic, but NOT at the distance you were from your subjects. The FAQ link I gave you below even covers that when you use a shotgun mic you need to be right in the face of whomeever is talking.
Get some more interviews and rework this, and come to the message boards and ask us questions if you need help. We're here to help you! -zen
