Each 7th and 8th of December, the small colombian town of Quimbaya honors the Virgin Mary witha town-wide lantern celebration to celebrate the Immaculate Conception.

Couldn't read the subtitles, but I'll take your word that what they're saying is interesting. The footage is good, and the story is well put-together. The narration gets me a little -- it sounds like you're overselling it. It's not necessarily the words themselves, which convey the story well, but I'd like to hear the energy toned down just a bit, so that the images get to carry more of the narrative weight. In any case, a good, tight treatment of a unique story, so GL from me.

GL for me too. Subtitles were hard to read on small screen but it's a good pod, have you thought about music maybe? I love Current TV so much, it's like travelling all over the world for free. If you get a chance, come check out my latest pod Shadow Boxer link Keep Podding! Getreel

Wow, thanks so much for the comments! I honestly didn't even think anyone was going to comment. they were all right on. I did 2 narrations, the first was so dry that I decided to spice up the second, guess too much. I had the subtitles bigger, but in the preview window on editing, they were cut off, so I made them smaller. When I checked out my .avi, they looked fine, but one a normal size screen. So I just learned something new for next time...
The first lady talked about how she went to Israel last year, so her lanterns were designed for the monuments there. The younger girl first talked about how a few years ago, the whole town set up the lamps and a torrential storm hit suddenly, washing the whole event away. The second time she talks about how it is turning from a religious event to a cultural one.
Thanks everyone! -
Thanks for educating me about some cultural background from that region, and its traditional celebration. The photography is great, and the narration conveys your message very clearly. Well done! Keep sharing your stories over here. GL from me!
By the way, if you still want to experiment with your subtitles, and make them easier to read on the small screen, you can download a new version of your pod anytime you want. Let me know if you need instructions on how to do that.
When you get a chance, please check out my pod ( A Humane Society ) and let me know what you think. Thanks!-

Thanks for your support and for your comments on my pod: A Humane Society . I really appreciate it.
Answering your question, Pantazonia is not an actual location, but a name that I made up, which pays homage to ecological sanctuaries located in South America: the Pantanal Wetlands and the Amazon Rainforest. I hope you had a good experience living in the Colombian Amazon for 6 months. Thanks again!-

Hey smilingzebra! loved your pod. I have no clue what happened to mine. Nothing like telling everyone about it and noone can see it. I had a bunch of people from the town I filmed it in try to look at it as well. I recieved an email from current saying it should only be a day more, but that was several days ago! I understand the holidays and all, but other pods have been uploaded and working after my update was, so I don't know what gives. I'll let you know when it's all sorted out.

Congrads to Bufalo - great viddy! You did a good job and did a good turn for all those artists who now get to have their art seen by people all over the world! Thanks to you and Current! Now that the Willy'
s went home, I would love to see a video about you- an obvious x-pat living in a world of magical realism with a beautiful wife... c'mon turn the camera around!-

Tempting smilingzebra, very tempting. There might be a rant soon about our ridiculous immigration situation..... Thanks
-
I really enjoyed this pod because I felt like I lived a little bit of the event. I do a lot of international travel and I thought you did a great job of showing us what this event is all about. I did, however felt you needed some kind of music. If you are not aware, you can get legal free downloadable music from the Current tv site. Here is the link:
link have to agree with smilingzebra. You must do a film about yourselves (I am fascinated with American's living outside of the US since I plan on being one soon) and it sounds like one regarding the immigration problems you may be having. We met so many people in Argentina a few months ago who said that the US policy on coming to the states is so ridiculous now that they choose to go and spend their money elsewhere. People are interested in these stories.
Thanks for the GL support on Shoe Shine Man!

Beautiful! I could almost feel the warm breeze! There's something magical about outdoor night-time events in South America and you've captured this one just the right way! Hope this makes it on TV!
If you have a minute, I'd appreciate your feedback on my Vcam. -
Thanks so much everybody! And thanks CurrentTV. Overall I had a good time making the pod and reading the reviews. I was really dissapointed that for tecnical reasons with Current, my pod (and only my pod) was only available one out of the first 10 days it was up, but I won't let that stop me from making more.
I presented it last night to a movie club that meets here and they loved seeing their region portrayed different from the usual drugs, gangs, hookers....
Telecafé has contacted me and although they aren't buying it, I will cede them the rights to show on their channel. Thanks again all -
good interviews. i like the pod. GL!

I wish I could GL this pod once again. It is really different and interesting. I look forward to seeing more of your productions here at Current in the near future.
I have been away from the website for a while, working on a new project. If you have a moment, please come take a look at my latest pod BIG BUGS , and let me know what you think about this reversed perspective on the world. Thanks for your time!
