  • I LOVED this video and I know nothing about sailing or this type of sport, but now I want to try it! Sign me up!
Many of the shots were beautiful, the editing was fantastic, and the music cues were right on. GL all the way. Good luck!

  • Joe,

What a pleasure to watch! It's well photographed, it has great pacing and structure, and best of all the interviews are insightful and lively. I think the only comment that was missing was the idea that the underlying technology that drives a square-rigger is ironically modern in that it's non-polluting and "sustainable."

    Excellent work!

  • GL for sure, you will be going on TV with this, everything a pod should be. Did you score it? You rarely see feature quality track work on CTV. Lord, what a lot of production value in this. Well done, Keep Podding! if you get a chance, comce support

  • A very arrrrrrticulate pod. :)

Seriously though, a fascinating pod about a subject I didn't know much about, very well shot, clear crisp audio, and very engaging interviews. Good music as well, always nice to see original music on a pod. A real pro production all around . Man, you must have had 30 release forms to get signed after you were done! Good thing you had 3 Medeiros family members to help out. Greenlight says ayyyyye.

Sorry I couldn't resist at least two pirate jokes.

Please come by and check out my latest pod and good luck to you! -zen

  • I toured this ship last year while I was in San Diego and being a serious history buff wondered what it would be like to set sail in it. Well, now I have an idea. This is a great pod. Personally I think it could be cut shorter as there are a lot of interviews, but that will be a decision for Current to make when it airs on TV. This pod is definitely headed for the tube at some point. GL and once again congrats on a well crafted idea.

  • I may be a landlubber but I love the idea of sailing and think you capture some of the romance of the sea in this piece. Would love to see it on air.

  • Mr Ed. you've done it again. Wouldn't Rick be jealous? Great photography, it feels like we're on the high seas. The volunteers are interesting and enthusiastic, and it shows. Great pacing and flow.

  • This is really wonderful. I've listened to all the Master and Commander series on audiobooks, and I hope that one day I'll sail on one of these ships. Before the mast, of course!
  • For a reader of Patrick O'Brian's sea novels, this is really a treat. The shots of the mast are especially enjoyable.

  • The story and interviews are great. The camera motion gave me that real feeling of being at sea and feeling seasick. Many of the non-interview scenes flashed by so fast I don't I remember what I saw.
  • What a great show! This is a very nice tribute to the Star and her crew...

  • The SD Maritime Museum is supported by fantastic staff and volunteers that keep alive the art of sailing these vessels as well as restoring and maintaining the ships themselves...the video captures the experience of being part of this diverse and enthusiastic crew! Of the thousands of immigrant ships that participated in the great European migrations of a hundred years ago, the Star is the only one that still sails; this IS living history!
