How did you ring in the New Year of 2007? A visual investigation into the aftermath of America's most popular New Year celebration - New York's Times Square - this video addresses unseen threads in the fabric of American culture.

i think this piece has a lot of potential, but the pace needs to picked way up. maybe re-do the VO and pick up the speed with that, and also maybe the intro can be cut down a little. also, i think what would really pull it all together is not music necessarily, but ambient sound. can you go out and record street sound and lay it over? it will really help to pull it all together and add another layer.

Spencer, I gather you shot all the photos -- one of the more effective uses of the slide show format (and I'm not treating the term as a pejorative). The narration gets a little self-conscious at points -- you're at your best when you don't push too hard for the poetic (your narration over the shots of the cleanup crew is an example of some of the better work). Yeah, get some music in there, it's definitely needed. I'm going ahead with a GL anyway, 'cause the goodness is already there.

It's funny. I lived in NYC for 10 years and I never went to times square. It really just looked too much like punishment. As you said: just walking through times square during a busy time gives you a taste of what New Years would be like. It really makes you think. I don't blame anybody who has done that for reconsidering. It is almost a survival instinct.
This is a great picture story. I like to see a good use of this slideshow technique (as you can see from my own attempts). I wouldn't chop things or repace things too much untill you see it with music.
I also really like the suggestion of adding street sounds. I will be watching this pod to see what develops. -

You're visuals are stunning, just need some audio.

Excelent compilation of images and nice flow of the visual story. The tone of your voice definitely adresses the point you're making but yes, the first thing I noticed was that it could use some music. APM is an excelent source you get 10 free downloads with every pod you upload. GL
