Go-Go is a genre of Funk music and it started in the late 70s. Chuck Brown is considered "the godfather of Go-Go".

I'm less interested in the awards and the red carpet than what the hell go go is to begin with. Some restructuring to focus on history and who's who, some footage of performances, would be more pertinent for me. Also, you sort of gloss over that this is taking place in New Orleans, I'd keep that more in the focus, too (this story isn't done, after all).

I agree that some more background info would be really helpful for the purpose of this film. Not many people know what go-go is and its a good topic. Good music and a good vibe surrounding the culture. Hopefully this can help it get more exposure but again, some more basic explanation would really improve this piece. Also, the black spaces inbetween clips was somewhat distracting.

Was the music in the background go-go music? Cause if it wasn't, I would've liked to hear it.

Yes, the music in the background is Go-Go (the beat is actually done by Trouble Funk). If you want to listen to more Go-Go music, you can go to www.gogoradio.com.

This was an interesting video but I also would have liked to have seen some actual performances. Go Go originated in Washington D.C. but never really caught on outside of the mid Atlantic area. I'm from the midwest but I've been a big fan of Go Go for over 25 years. Chuck Brown, TroubleFunk,E.U., Rare Essence, Junkyard Band, and DJ Kool are some of the more popular old school artists. Check out the MySpace page of any of the artist's in the pod for a taste of Go Go.
