In Bucks County, PA there is a field of boulders, some of which make a bell-like sound when struck. The park is called Ringing Rocks. Marc Scott is a rock drummer who played a brief concert with his ax.

  • I hope lots of people view and enjoy! It was fun to make.
  • It's interesting; I've never heard of Ringing Rocks before. Are they hollow?

It would have been nice to have some information about what makes the rocks ring (if known) and some more B-roll editing rather than the home-movie style.

  • Very interesting and unique. I agree that I would have liked an intro explaining what was going to happen and why the rocks sounded musical.

Please click on my head and check out my latest rant hopefully the updated version is ready.
  • I enjoyed it very much.
I was aware of these ringing rocks and it would be interesting to know (perhapsfrom a local University geologist) what causes these rocks (boulders) to sound the way they do when they are struck.
    Anyhow,
I could have used Marc on some of my music tracks.
I have a good set of ball peen hammers.
He would be able to do a rock roll with them.
    Good luck.

  • I've been to Ringing Rocks 10-15 times when I lived in Flemington, NJ. It was a short motorcycle ride from us down Rt 12 across the Frenchtown Bridge into Bucks County PA. I really would have liked you to have expanded the pod to explain there is no place else on earth with ringing rocks like these, and no one is really sure why they ring at all (trust me viewers, it's not from his AX) and that every Rock has a unique tone and sound to it!

Some have speculated the rocks were a volcanic byproduct, but no one is really sure! I was also told rocks removed from the area no longer ring, but I've never tested that theory since it's a state park and it's illegal to take the rocks out (and they are HUGE). I've hit the rocks with hammers and other rocks, and they all ring beautifully. It's one of the weirdest places I've ever hiked through in Pennsylvania and quite fun! It's worth checking out if you are ever on Rt 32 on the PA side of the Delaware river between New Hope and Easton, PA. Greenlighted! Check out my latest pod when you have 5 mins. -zen

  • This sounds like a NIN instrument. Industrial Rock! Really cool.
  • Awesome subject, bit tame how it is done here. Maybe a bit more editorializing and explanation to get it "ready for tv."
