  • Repeat after me: My-crow-bee-ul. But aside from the pronunciation glitch, you clearly know from whence you speak, and can put it across in an entertaining way. I'm wondering whether cutaways might not help keep the thing from feeling like it's running to long, but I like it anyway, so GL.
  • Why do people always assume guys are just innate packrats and micromanagers? I don't know...

Man, this is a great pre-travel-guide. Everything you need to know in four and a half minutes, with time-lapse photography, humor and even something guys aren't well known for -- humility. A delight. I think it's the beginning of a twelve-part series.

  • Great, entertaining pod. Keep travellin'. And congrats on your diving cert. The diving where you are is supposed to be some of the best in the world. Enjoy.

And thanks for your comments on my shark diving pod.
  • You really have a great presence in front of the camera, and you know well how to take advantage of that. This pod is very entertaining, informative, and, of course, hilarious! Keep them coming! GL from me.
  • GL! You can pack my backpack anyday! Great tips for my Terrorist Attack Survival Kit in NYC! This is what a pod should be, informative and keeps your interest, especially the condoms, that got my attention. Come support my newest pods Shadow Boxer link and Twilight Ballet. Great job. Getreel

  • Oh, ho, ho, ho!!! Thispod is really, really funny. Great presence and narration and humor and really good tips for the wary traveler.
  • I like you. I like your subtitles. I like the fact that you're outta here and that you're documenting something you don't even know yet. Can i come?? GL
  • Well done! Great timing. Great verbal and facial expressions. I believe that Lonely Planet would need to team up with you. You could provide them with visual information for people who cannot get their head into a book. Well done. Great imagination and insight into the long term trip! As a frequent traveler in developing nations, I get it! Thanks so much. I'm looking to shoot a project in Peru shortly and need assistance. I need to find people like you. Sweet. I'm stoked to see what you've got next. Rad piece!
  • Dude, I'm in Lima, Peru: SA. Have you trekked down there as of yet. I'm wanting to assemble a small team to shoot a friend of mine who is running from Cusco to Machu Picchu, sleeping along the way. He's running it to raise money for an orphanage that I work with in Lima. You'd get to trek around Incan history if you'd like. My email is chicagobat@hotmail. Thanks for listening.
  • I love the simplicity, the practicality and the inspiration that this pod embodies. It makes me wish I could go along on the trip. I love those kinds of adventures.

Unfortunately, that time has passed for me. But pods likle this let me live vicariously through you!! I look forward to more.

  • Im glad that many have found this useful and are able to live vicariously! I am also planning a follow-up, when I return, about the items that were truly useful and truly CRAP. So watch this space...although I wont be headed back to good ol' NJ until mid-May...

  • How about some PODs from the trip, not enough room in the pack for a small vidcam? The discussion of condoms and anti-diarrhea meds in the same POD is enough for my GL. Check out my pod and let me know what ya think.

  • I have been making short films from my travels, just havent been uploading them here because I dont find that they are Current material...but I might be wrong.

You can check out my blog at www.blog.myspace.com/nickvivion or all of my travel videos at www.youtube.com/worldli.

When I get home Ill see what I can compile into something for Current...I think they need more travel pieces to encourage young people to get out there, see the world and learn so much more about life they than ever could working for Goldman Sachs!

  • Hey N~ How are you going? Thanks for your rad updates. Hoping to hear more from your end of the world. I've just been selected for staff pick, and I'm trying to get the word out for the orphanage. Just was hoping if you could have a look at my video, Voice of The Murmurs for your feedback and support. Hope your travels are groovy. Cheers~ Danielmklopp~
  • liked it alot, I hop you bring the camera on your trip! im so jealous, tell me how you made the trip happen
  • This was very helpful. My first trip out of the country lacked some of this knowledge, first aid kit, shoes, and light jackets would have been good to know then. Never forget now. I also enjoy how diplomatic some of the tips are when discussing the conditions overseas. Very resourceful and encouraging guide for those who might feel unprepared. Going to do anything more like this? Id dig it.

Feel free to check out my first vid launch, We Create.

  • super necessary for any globetrotters-if only i had seen your piece before my first adventure overseas! it would have really (i laugh at the memory) been so insightful! i dig your style, coolness, expertise, and reason.. the music bed is a perfect compliment. gl from kendallfresh.
  • sweet!
  • Sweet pod. Especially part about bringing the condoms and anti-diarrhea pills. Excellent GL.

Check out the "idiots" in my pod!!!

  • This is great. GL. What's taking you overseas?
  • Very entertaining and matches well with the summer travel season. Good job. I would GL it if I could :P
  • Yuppie commodity fetishism. You are going to look like such a elitist tourist. Chacos?! Why don't you wave a McWorld Flag off the top of your bag instead of your poncho. I'd like to see Current applaud people other then the cute well-educated boys and girls that watch the program. This pod reproduces all that is cheezy in Current. Why not a pod by somebody who brought nothing to China, it would be so dangerously original.

  • This was fun to watch. I have zero complaints.

Check out my first upload at <a href=" http://current.tv/watch/67660702.htm">link</...
  • Congrats! You deserve it. Well done ! Nos vemos amix! Chaufita~
    Danielmklopp~
  • So glad you FINALLY made it to TV. This is a really great pod!
  • Ouch. "Yuppie commodity fetishism?" I think you missed the point of the pod, my friend. Let me see you try to walk for 10 hours a day for 11 months in any other sandals besides Chacos...while I respect the Nepalese for being able to trek with 45 pounds on their back barefoot, I cant do that.

And there are just as many people traveling with nothing, and buying as they go, as people carrying their things. I prefer to save money and keep my gear throughout my trip.

It seems like you might have some deeper-seeded issued with Current, issues that I dont necessarily disagree with. But I dont think this pod deserved such a scathing critique. Its informative, fun and is not promoting anyone's agenda except for mine: sharing things I have learned with others.

  • Nick,

You have specially designed underway for gawd's sake! And what are you going to do with that water bottle, fill it up at bathroom sinks in Mongolia?! Look I've watched all your stuff and I appreciate your approach. Your best when you are political (I agree with your critque of Tolerance) and too cute when you are being cliche (Buggin'). My point is that producers have a responsibility to avoid being typical. That was a typical pack of a typical tourist. Current should reward experimentation not recapitulate that most unsavory form of Americanism: materialism. Yours was a shopping list. Fine for a first time traveler, but not interesting enough for television.

More importantly, friend, I commend your mixing your traveling and pod-making, you are the future of bold VC2 producers! Keep it up.

  • Adam -

Let me ask you this: have you ever spent 12 month traveling? Twelve months of wearing the same pair of underwear over and over and OVER? Well, if you had, you would understand the benefits of anti-microbial undewear...that also dries quickly.

Also, have you ever spent 6 weeks in China? Where the water is so dirty that its almost black? Well when you do that, then youll understand where the bottle comes in handy.

Also, how many Americans do YOU know that actually travel let along for 12 months? This pod is just meant to make it easier and show others that packing is simple and that there is no excuse not to get out and travel.

And honestly, I made this pod so I would be able to stop responding to the same emails: "Whats in the pack?" People wanted to know and that is what came of it. I was not endorsed by anyone, this is just what does the job best. And if buying things that do the job the best makes me guilty of American materialism, then so be it. I wasnt the one with huge bloody blisters and a bad attitude when I was traveling; I was the happy, engaging one.

    Peace brother,
