getting an x-games medal means putting your body to the physical limits but more importantly getting your mind the mentality of a champion

width="486" height="407">Skateboarder Jake Brown Eats It Hard at the X GamesThis guy hits the half-pipe too hard and fast and comes away from the ramp and falls 50 feet!
Watch his shoes come flying off when he lands.-

this is interesting, but the gender divide in the X-Games bothers me greatly. Are there no women at the top of their game in dirt bikes???
-
Interesting, if you like watching bored white rich kids playing with bikes and calling it a sport. There's no way you can compete with these guys without a big wallet.

What's the track @ :30? That's definitley on Shredder's iPod

I agree with Saskia--where the ladies at? I find it hard to get interested in a bunch of dudes riding around on small bikes doing slightly interesting tricks, I'm not discounting how hard it is, but I tend to respect people who are doing real athletic sports that are physically demanding. I also think pods about extreme sports are too easy and over-done, that's what Fuel TV is for, not Current.

I'm much more of a traditional sports guy,(he writes while watching Cal/OSU football) so this has minor appeal for me, but I gotta give major props to the dude that did the consecutive back-flips. I think footage of crashes would generate a much bigger ooh-ah thread. But since these guys are the best I guess we'll have to wait for the 'Backyard X games' vid to come out.
-
i think there is a part of the brain missing in these guys. what makes you even want to try that?!
but, although extreme is a little played, i think there is something appealing in watching people push their limits. -
Lose the X-treme!I'm not a big X-Games guy, but can definitely appreciate the crazy stuff these guys do. I can't see myself ever paying to attend one of these events, but sure, I'll watch on ESPN @ 2am when nothing else is on.
I just wish they could come up with a different name. Now, *everything* is "extreme" in some way. Try Googling the term "extreme products" - I got 162,000 results. -
Extreme CrashesHere's a compilation of "Extreme" crashes from the X Games.
-
It's been amazing watching the progression of this sport after the first back flip was done. After watching these guys push it with 360's it's almost scary to think what's coming next!

I used to be a BIG FMX fan, I can do some "stock" tricks but now its too comercial. I also race motocross, harescambles, pit bikes, observed trials...ect I like the addition of Supermoto to X it brings it back down to good ole team competition. Personally though I would rather watch/compete in a local or district motocross race that watch the X games.
