On the first Friday of every month, some of Chicagos top literary talents and performers are showcased in a reading series called The Dollar Store. Host Jonathan Messinger uses his obsession with dollar stores as inspiration, by giving each performer an item to incorporate into their performance.

Great stuff. Once I'm not working at a bar every Friday, I hope to actually come to Dollar Store again. Would be a good idea to regularize the volume, as some of the live clips are nearly inaudible...

Ive seen Baby Wants Candy and Too Much Light, some improv at the small theater over the Goodman, but not Dollar Store, after this Im sure to check it out. Chicago's got a lot of underappreciated theater talent, but I think we like it that way.

I have seen this and it is one of the great underground performance events in chicago.
