Taped on March 15, 2007. This is the beginning shoot of an adventure yet to come. My friend, Nick Bondi is going to run 116 miles from Cusco to the Incan Ruins this upcoming Autumn of 2007 in Peru, South America. I am following this story from the inital shoot that you view to the run itself. Nick is running this adventure to raise $200,000 USD for an orphanage that I work with, Centro Shama, in Lima, Peru. Centro Shama is attempting to raise this money so the orphanage can build a school for the 24 children inside, enabling them to get an education. Stay tuned as the big event draws closer. We are building a film team to shoot the 116 mile run. Keep watching, keep speaking for those who cannot, and keep peace.

Another good peace bro. GL. Thanks for the compliments on my stuff. We should really think about collaborating. My wife is fluent in Spanish (she lived in Mazatlan Mexico for two years), and we're both believers, so maybe we could help out at the orphanage or something.
-
Daniel, well shot and edited as always! Your voice adds another good dimension to this story; provides another layer that compliments the main character. I think it will turn out well, because it seems like good story of courage and hope. The elements (I've been there, the altitude sucks) and his lack of travel experience will provide for some drama, but maybe there is another element that can raise the stakes for the final piece? Time limit? More personal connection to the orphanage?
I don't know, but it looks amazing so far, as does all of your work. let me know how I can help... GL -
Daniel:
Good luck with the ongoing pods. We'll follow this story to the end. Good luck to Nick and his drive to run this through the Andes. Tell him to give it his all. Keep it up. We're here to see you through.
Angie~ -
hey bro! i really support your cause and purpose! i am looking forward to seeing what happens when he goes to run. I would totally help you get more of this going if I could travel over there. but unfortunately i cant...i think you got a powerful story going here and i know that the rest of this adventurer will be even more powerful...GL
good luck in all you do!

Show us the real run.
I don't know who the commentator is, nothing about the charity, but a lot about the runner. I don't know why I am supposed to care about the runner. Make a pod about the run. This, and I am sure you know it, is a PSA fundraiser video, not an informative journalistic video. -
Once again you have done an extraordinary work for a very good cause, it is good to be able to help those who need it like you do it. Keep me informed when you produce other videos.
I am grateful for your comments about my works.
GL!

Its actucally refreshing to see a pod with purpose. No offense to the others who do it. I love seeing the heart of God protrayed in a relevant way. I would love to visit the orphanage some day even with my church. Keep up the great work ill be looking for the rest of it!
-
Daniel:
You have produced a beginning of stories and experiences yet to come. Thank you for all you do for Centro Shama. We are waiting to see more of what happens in Peru. Good luck and all of the best. I would enjoy hearing more of what happens on the way down to Peru, the training, and the actual race. This would be a great short series.

Daniel,
there is some good content here. Although, I look more forward to seeing the actual race--that will make what you've filmed so far, however you choose to incorporate it, all the more powerful and engaging. I've been filming along lake shore drive lately myself, and you've given me some neat ideas about how to experiment with that, after watching your Chicago b-roll.
Nice sepia tones. Perhaps a few too many cross dissolves but when they are called for, mainly with the footage of the kids, they work incredibly well. GL. and more to come from me this week! -
There was certainly no question in whether or not this has earned a green light. This looks like an incredible journey and I am very enthusiastic about what may follow. I would be more then happy to collaborate and/or to find out more about the work you do in S. America as I have been looking to do some volunteer type work for quite some time. I very much look forward to the next part of this series and hope current picks up on what an excellent opportunity is available here.
Agreed with a little too much cross fading, but the footage is fantastic and I think the ending helps set us up for a truly great journey.
P.S. Music is beautiful as well. -
Nice story of a challenge, commitment and a worthy goal. GL
Check out Sister Beatrice Explores if you get a chance. She ran the LA marathon once.-

Let's do it man!
See you soon,
N -
he is running 116 miles straight? he's really gotta train hardcore. as, i am sure he will as much as you can train for 116 miles! but, he's got an absolute challenge in front of him, like you stated. he is putting out his mind, body, and spirit all the way.
i mean, really, this is an awesome topic daniel. there really is so much richness here. the elements are wide open...not speaking spanish, the distance, the cause, the location~
and those can all be splintered even furthermore.
the way you shot this pod to me, is captivating...the music, the angles, the black and white, the edits...you know what you're doing!
i can't wait to see more of this to come. keep me posted:)-

Hi Daniel, haven't logged in for ages as i've been snowed under at work, and just got a chance to see this. Firstly, I am so so happy that your work got the recognition it deserved and will be on tv. As I've said so often, and for this piece too, you have such a great eye, passion and generosity in your filmmaking, it is truly inspiring. can't wait to see Nick Bondi's run, best of luck to him and can't wait to see a piece on his progress and run, which I think will be amazing. thanks for your very kind words, it's been such a pleasure and joy to see all your pieces the past few months and have a chance to chat with you about them. keep up the beautiful work. Eleni

Yes I like the subject. Noble, generous, moving. I GL it for the TV as "part one" highly anticipating the continuation of the story...
In my pod, Jim Santilli is raising money for the cause of Multiple Sclerosis in his own creative way. I would like to hear from you:

Gl. you always make such wonderful videos! Nick should come to train here in Santa Fe for altitude. If it fits our schedual he has a place to stay. We are at 5000 to 7000 feet. That is a bit above Chicago sea level. ;)

Hi Daniel - , GOD bless your effort...got my GL.....When you have a minute - please review "The Kitchen Killer" - a POD on indoor air quality/burns associated with Open Flame Cooking and a simple low cost solution. It effects those Least Served.

What a moving piece. Best of luck to your runner.
We have some cyclists here who are doing something similar: biking from Alaska to Argentina for a Nicaraguan school. They'll be passing through Peru so give 'em a shout out. www.bikingforabetterworld.org

GL! Great dynamic shooting to keep the eye as well as ear engaged. Perhaps, once the adventure is complete, you can intercut scenes of the run with the anticipation of the run. Great start and I want to see more! and thank you for your feedback on my pod! Given your scope of work, your comments meant a lot!

I think you have a great story here. The job is honorable and your eye is great! Well produced pod and I hope to see it on TV soon! = GL

Compelling subject matter. Look forward to following everyone's journey. I try to add my two cents for what it's worth, appeared as if the interview was ashot inside and came out a bit dark and not sure about a few of the effects used in transition. Loved the look and feel (color) of the piece. GL and best wishes.
