A word of advice & a GL for your pod.
Make sure that the Mayor of your city (unlike ours in NYC) who welshed on his promise to me in a published 2004 newspaper article to fund art in our public school system) provides needed funds for art education in your city. Good luck.

I love art stores! I think this is a great piece demonstrating how businesses can be so much more than just a commercial enterprise. As an artist in Binghamton, NY, I'm well aware of the importance of art in a struggling city. It would be interesting to do a followup piece in 3-4 months to see how things are going. GL

Hey everyone -- thanks for the feedback! This is my first edit for a class assignment to do an interview, so I distilled it down to one voice for a short piece. With all of the positive support, I will definitely expand the edit for this pod to include the voices of her husband, artists and members of the community who were also present for the opening. No problem. I shot three hours of footage that day -- doing camera and sound solo!

Robin, you have done a wonderful job with this...honestly! Thank you for your hard work on this and for the additional exposure you have given our new business. I can't wait for your future Oscar!

So I just watched DJ Ralph McDaniels interview Fab 5 Freddy, Fab 5 said his first music video was low budget yet he still got air time. Reach out to them on myspace and stay on the stick! I'm from your area, not that I'm proud of this, yet I once hustled at "Big Shield's" I'm on the DL later. Also I'm thinking either NYE TV ch 31 , or NYC TV ch 25 in the Tri-State area, are looking for amateur pods to fill some of their time slots,check it out. With Love; akela_p501usa a.k.a. Great work, i especially liked the way you kept the pace up, it matched the speakers enthusiasm and the edit and use of music was tight. I also like the overall way you captured and portrayed the communities aspirations. Totally fresh in style and content. more please.... GL

To be your first pod it's done very well. I live in Union Cty and have been involved w/ some ngo groups in Newark that seek changes in the community as well, and as Ade states, "It's time to get over it an move on." So, Good for Newark that now has an art supply store and YOU! GL

In my eyes, a well done piece. It kept my interest all the way through and I loved the sax. Went to school in Newark & partied there too. We had some very bad images of the city back then (1960's). Thanks for giving me some positive views. Peace, Joe

I saw that the mayor Cory Booker was at her grand opening. Incredible that the city of Newark had no art supply store prior to this. I would like to have seen more b roll of art work produced by the artists in attendance. Decent pod with nice information.

Great idea for the pod, even better idea for the art supply store

This my dad's old neighborhood and it's nice to see it coming up in this world. Also cool to see this pod for us folks on the west coast. This pod is simple and straight forward and a great piece for current.
