Sims 2 VCam, Draft 1

Thanks southern :) I wasn't sure if the message was going to get across. That was my little step brother in the commercial. He was pretty psyched to help me out. But boy did he complain once he realized how much repetitive work is involved in film acting ha ha!

Any chance I can ask for opinions on something I just typed in the forums? it's under the title "paranormal good?" if you can't find it, just click on my screen name and search what I've posted in the forums, it should take you to the link. (But please don't post the opinions here though lol! I'll check back on the forums to see if anybo0dy has written anything.)

Very well done! I'm not sure how you managed your layout, but all in all, You've done a wonderful job.

Thanks laura. The layout in premiere looked very messy, especially since you can't see more than like 2-3 tracks at one time. All I can say is, planning and story boarding are a god send

I like the creativity here. Didn't know what you were gonna do with the camera, but I liked how you bridged the real world with the Sims world. It would have "looked" better if perhaps the real world sequences were a little more bright and colorful so it blends better, but I liked the concept none-the-less. GL.

I didn't like this video the layout was sloppy, the transition between worlds was a mess it was way too dark. next time get more creative in the Sims world

This is very "younique." One of the most original concepts I have seen out of the Sims entries. You should be proud :)

I've noticed that Mark8920 has posted comments to other videos such as "this is the lamest attempt at selling sex," "I loved your video, children of the corn right? no I'm kidding I don't love your video", "scroll much?" and "There's no way you're going to win you can't do any of the things in your video in the Sims 2 or in the Sims 2 seasons, you might want to rethink your strategy. " I don't think anyone here should take your opinions seriously, Mark8920. This is just blatant trolling, trying to grief people for all their hard work.

I liked it . Are those copyrighted characters? Gave it a green for TV. Good Luck !!

Hey hippie! Yeah I believe they are --at least the footage of the game is--, but the good thing is that Maxis and EA gave us game footage to work with, so I used some of it :)

I bet I've watched your VCAM twenty times or so. I absolutely love it! Great use of the Maxis made clips, you truly made them your own with the format. Very creative concept.

If this doesn't end up on TV, I'll be upset, Draft?! Ha! This thing is ready for the world.

The VCAMs don't have to be about the Seasons EP. In the rules it also states that they can be on The Sims 2 base game.

good work dude! It flows nicely and has a cool message. If this is a draft, you can perhaps shorten the paparazzi's wanderings. It's clear to the viewer as soon as he takes the first shot. GL from me! Good luck!

Hmmm, to be honest i'm not too sure on this one. Yes, it is very creative and a very unique (or younique lol) idea, but it doesn't tell you much about sims.
But then again, most adverts that are on TV are like this, where it doesn't show much of the 'product' and because of this you remember it.
So yes this is very good, very creative, I love what you done, but I have to say I myself prefer adverts that show more of what it's advertising. I do get the message, but I think there should be more clips from the sims in there.
So I am not quite sure how to rate this. I think i'll leave it for now till I can decide :D
Just wanna say i'm not offending your work, hope you understand what i mean when i say i think it's great but i'm not sure about it...

Basicly, if this is just a draft and you are going to make another VCAM, I think you should add more clips of the sims and less with the camera.(But everyone else seems to like it so this may just be me, i've heard from some people i'm weird lol)

thanks for the remarks and no, you're not offending me, it's ok. The reason as to why I chose to do the commercial the way it is, is because of the same reason you mentioned. There are already too many commercials that show the game, so I figured I'd take it a different direction. I couldn't show as many clips as I wish I could've, and that was because of time constraints. My commercial just barely makes the 1 minute mark.
Unfortunately though, due to real life issues, I might not have enough time to push another draft. If I do, it will actually have other live action footage that I couldn't use in this one, and it will probably have less sims footage. Hey, I spent over 5+ hours shooting all that live footage, and damn it I'm gonna milk it as much as I can lol!
I have a bad habit of going beyond what my time constraints (I once did a Batman Begins trailer for class, it was supposed to be 3 minutes, and it ended up being 3 mins 45 secs. lol) But that's because I have so many ideas going on in my head, it's hard to decide what to cut, what to keep. I edited the commercial the way it is now, because I wanted to make sure people got the commercial and told the story and still have it retain footage of the game. I don't know if you remember, but remember even Maxis using a lot of live footage and very little of their game footage (the commercials of the guys with the green diamond on their heads and then the attractive woman comes into the shot comes to mind, ha! that was funny.)

I really like it. The only comment I can make is that the narrative voice at the end caught me off guard and seemed kind of quiet. Could be more dramatic and, I dunno flashy! Still nice work, GL!

This is the best I've seen for the Sims, very cool, very creative.... Nice work, especially for a first draft, it's better than most finished ads.

Lucy, it has been stated here, and the assignment instructions over and over again, it doesn't have to be about the seasons

I definetely give you credit for actually manipulating the footage very nicely instead of just doing a "copy paste" editing, and adding live footage very nicely to the combo

I'd rather see a commercial for this game created with the use of the game that is unique. I don't like that you are trying on a new motto for the game marketing strategy either. I think what they have works just fine for them as is.

Like the mixed media. Could be faster paced. Could more carefully choose the shots to take? Maybe use ones from your experience with the game. (There are a million interesting moments.)

Don't listen to the people that are saying that this is not good because it is not about The Sims 2 and you have real life film in it. I'm not trying to be rude to the others but it is an ad.

I honestly think you did a really good job on this. The idea is really good since I love the fact that you(if it is you) are taking pictures of the Sims in real life and then they add all up together in different events. It is a unique concept. I can't wait to see more from you :) Greenlight!

Thanks for the kind words. It's amazing to see how some (not all) people will get all "up in arms" because an ad is different from what the majority does. It's sad really because that kind of attitude will only end up discouraging potential film makers (I know from experience working with theater directors, they can seriously be a pain in the rear end)

Very Creative Ideas; Excellent Transitions between the SIMS world and the real world. The concept throughout was excellent and I really enjoyed watching it. Definately deserves to be at the end.
