  • If you don't know who Gail Porter is (which I don't. Who is she?), this piece doesn't have much resonance. She's not very succinct and isn't the best salesman for fairtrade, in my opinion. The issue of Fairtrade deserves a better spokesperson. Perhaps if I knew who she was, this piece would have been better. In anycase, her interview could be cut way down. Also, the telescoping camerawork featuring the show's host is a poor attempt to be "edgy".
  • Hiya Patrick,

fair point regarding Gail and context from a US perspective, although the film's aimed at a UK audience where she's a household name.

I agree it could be cut down to be pithier. On the camera front, I guess that's subjective - I'm actually ambivalent about it.

  • Why is it that web designers seem unable to present video footage in the correct aspect ratio?

This piece needs to be cut down to a third of its current length, Gail Porter just rambles on and the important points she makes are lost. The cameraman is a liability; this 'lets wave the camera around and zoom in and out all the time' stuff has been done to death and just gives the impression that this is an exercise in style over content.

  • It seems to go on forever and though her bald head is kind of cool to look at, I'm thinking you could have given us more visually, especially when the piece starts off with talking. Feels like there's no break and I still don't know what this piece is about. Nothing better editing can't cure I think. Not all that bad, but...eh.

  • good interview, important topic.
  • So the big corporates and celebs support it... so what !!!! am I supposed to be impressed ?
  • Important subject matter, but blandly presented. The interviewees come across as quite boring and Gail Porter doesn't engage the viewer at all. The cutaways of cups etc during her interview are just silly. And I personally found the presenter very irritating. So all in all, thumbs down from us I'm afraid. Which is a shame because pods that promote fair trade are a definite must on Current TV. Just not this one :(
  • too many names at start... didn't engage me i am afraid...
  • The narrator does a good job of laying out the changes, growth and importance of Fair Trade. The interview with Gail Porter could have been a little shorter and the cut away's to posters, headlines and books about Fair Trade were too fast and choppy. I think the clip with the narrator smelling the coffee would have been good to end with, instead of the author, as it would then come full circle from the first clip and the narrator.

Take a look at my clip, if you have a moment, at: <a href=" http://www.current.tv/watch/36230603">link</...
