GL How sad.
Interesting how a 17 year old girl who had a relationship with a young man can bring dishonor; but stoning her to death is honorable.

Articulate interviewee. The B-roll of her walking around in a field, however, could be replaced with some other things that seem to have more bearing on what she's talking about.

This is a powerful pod. It is super intense. This is a subject that the world needs to see... the world need to see this is happening! Thank you for bringing it to the public.
Please check out "SF Die In" when you get a chance. It's about a unique anti-war protest: link -
Pass this around. An excellent, clear-headed description of how the Neocon war in Iraq has destroyed the underpinning of that society.

G/L - that is just wrong.

Thanks for this. I hope it gets to TV because what happened to Duaa is symptomatic of what's happening to the Iraqi people. The strange thing was that the men who killed her were Yazidi and not Muslim. Weird that you've pointed out your pod to me as I'm flying to Kurdistan tommorrow.

Thanks for letting us know the details about this sad situation so that we can help to bring an end to the practice and replace with love. Thanks also for the website link to support the women. Peace

This video should be played for the U.S. Congress. It should be mandatory. Sureya's story is powerful and moving. The script might be more focused on the issue of the"dis"honorable killings instead of on her family's history. This is an important piece of work.

Greenlight. Powerful. Sad. You did a great job presenting this story. We must learn about this culture. Our misunderstanding is a darkness that must change. Thank you for this video. I hope this goes to TV soon!
You may have already seen and voted on our pods but If not we would like you to see them if you get a moment :

this is a wonderful addition to the growing movement for a caring, nurturing world. We must look at these atrocities straight on and witness to our family and friends what is happening. I would like to have heard more about the woman who was stoned and how these killings come about.

We need to know that these horrors are happening and that the US forces are standing by watching. The truth about the supposed civil war is critical too. An antidote to the lies the US government is again telling us.

Hi everyone. Your comments are GREAT.
Please REMEMBER TO GREENLIGHT the film as well.
Thanks for visiting.

Excellent pod! Those are not honor killings - those are cold-blooded murders by cowardly violent men.
The Bush Admin has shown they didn't understand the history of Iraq and its socio-political framework when they went into Iraq. And now they have shown they still don't comprehend or appreciate the ramifications of their actions after the invasion. Pisspoor planning before and after overall.

WOW! You gave this topic more of a humanistic view than mainstream media could ever do. This shows the power of media has been given to the people! Your pod is far more enriching than the common socially parasitic media on newcorps, clearchannel, or the other W. Bush affiliates.
This pod covers an important subject. And it is timely.
Because today Iran's parliament "...voted in favor of a bill that could lead to the death penalty for persons convicted of working in the production of pornographic movies."Operative word: "production of".

i can't see this piece not being picked up by current....although the visual violence is ultimately disturbing, it's out there, and it's happening. this piece educates and addresses a topic that gets real fuzzy for anyone trying to keep up. your subject did a great job of explaining, which brings the personal value of experience and connection to a subject that otherwise couldn't be depicted in such an honest, human fashion. you captured some real great b-roll too....love the b-roll pouring coffee, the cups, walking in the field, etc. legalize honor killings? wtf? so, then i will check out the website below. great piece. I've heard of this but until I saw it, the true savagery was not real to me. The shamefulness of the murdering crowd was sickening. What shameful "men." They have no honor to kill or die for. They are the most DIS-honorable "humans" imaginable.

Shocking footage, and her commentary definitely strikes to the heart. I think it needs its focus tightened. Definitely all that background material about her can b trimmed way down -- not to discount her achievements and the obstacles her family faces, but to keep the spotlight more fully on the issue at hand. But a strong piece anyway, so GL from me.

truth told takes courage. any life lost is one too many and violence against women will never be acceptable. it is of no use for historical evaluation of the future is there is no respect for the perpetuation of the human race. may this refugee's purity of heart, her compassion be an example to all who visit this site.

Beautifully done graphics, overtext and music - this is well put together. I'm a friend of Sureya (the speaker in the video), but only just met Evan (the filmmaker), and I am impressed with what a great job he's done in such a short video, to portray how dire this is for women in the region.
-
who the heck voted no for this? This needs to be shown. Good job!
