Your VCAM is just the maxis made cookie cutter clips. Looks great, but knowing that it's just pieced together from pre-made videos, disturbs me. Plus there's no story to it. Its a bummer knowing that people who aren't familar with the game are going to greenlight the crap out of this, but those who are familar make up the minority of the voters.

I think the clips you chose show alot of the character of the game. And while eggzie makes a good point that they are edited clips from maxis; if they didn't want us to use them they wouldn't have given them to us. Either way, the spot is nicely edited and the music helped draw my attention. Well done dude. GL

This is just the begining of the game, nothing original here....

True, well edited! I have recently uploaded my video, unfortunately I got too caught up in having fun with it and lost track of length of time. I have to create an entirely new ad. What I was going to write; When I realized that the renders from Maxis were small clips from the Games, I took their advise for this assignment, and instead of using their rendered clips, I made my own with the ideas they provided us with through the renders. See, this way, people who are familiar with the Sims2, would clearly see that I soley created each frame on my own/ with imagination. Sorry so breathy, but I have seen a few VCAMS so far, that are mostly made up of the Maxis Renders. My VCAM took me four days to complete. Of course if I remembered it should have only been one minute, it might have only taken me two days! LOL
Keep Simming and Enjoy Creating!-

All you did was mix the opening movie with one clip from a trailer (also released by Maxis). There was no skill involved at all.

I think you would do better if you played the game and created your own movie with the in game video recorder. I thought that was the assignment?
This looks exactly as the start up movie when you insert the cd to play this game. Same music even. No offense but my 9 yr old could have made this. -
Tazziana - You don't have to make your own video from the game (it's not necessarily an obligatory part of the assignment, although certainly encouraged. unfortunately I'm going to have to use their footage as well because when I import the videos from the Sims folder into my Vegas, or Premiere, the graphic quality is awful, and I want to present a commercial as well polished as I possibly can) . That's why Maxis provided us with the footage. However I do agree with you that it seemed like no real effort was made.
Eggzie - Well now that you can see his votes more clearly, do you still agree that it will go on TV? -
you copied the intro...I was also bored.

taking the exact footage from Maxis and adding different music to it doesn't make it a better commercial, nor does it make you a good VCam producer, you should take notice of other commercials here, where the producers did take their time
-
that would be easy to make all you need to do is get the begging of the game and you are done
-
Wow. A note to the producer. Please do not take all of this to heart. If you have any ideas as to how you could take lightly, some of this criticism and improve your piece. Go ahead and do so. Otherwise, we thank you for participating and hope all of this rudeness does not turn you off from participating in the future. I had to delete a couple of comments that were unruly. Please send us an email at yourfriends@current.com if you have any questions.
Best,
~J
