THE NORTHERNMOST ATOLLS OF FRENCH POLYNESIA ARE HOME TO SOME OF THE WORLD'S BEST DIVING, AND THIS LOOK AT THE ISLAND OF TIKEHAU ALSO PROVIDES A VISIT TO BIRD ISLAND, WHICH IS HOME TO 6 DIFFERENT SPECIES.
THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO ECOLOGICAL THREATS TO THE AREA FROM TOURISM OPERATIONS.

  • Beautiful but played like a commercial. Reporting can become propaganda if it is not critical of its subjects. Gorgeous experience but I already knew that. I want to know something dark and mysterious about this place not only that it is ecologically diverse and handsome.

  • Thanks for the comment , rawbrid. It's purpose was to provide a bit of a happy escape, and I stand behind everything I put into that piece. However, my next segment focuses on the history of the Marquesan tattoo and it's banning by protestant missionaries. So stay tuned...

    I liked your visuals, especially your underwater shots and your aerial shots. I liked the "you can do it, too" tone. I liked the specificity of the descriptions.

    What I didn't like, and the reason I didn't give your project a greenlight, was your lack of perspective. It sounds and feels like an advertisement. It even seems to assume a hedonistic viewer! Are these areas protected? Are they in any jeopardy? Are there any natives in these beautiful places?

    I'll tell you, I went to Hawaii with my wife and one of my kids a couple of years ago, and I was taken by its lushness, too. But the deeper cut was getting exposed to the "locals." Going to roadside produce stands, mom and pop restaurants and "local" beaches just gave us a better feel for the underlying rhythms.

    There's also a line of audio, towards the end, in which your lovely narrator says there are 60 kinds of birds on this particular island, but when she said it, it sounded like "six."

  • I liked the way you combined three different aspects of life on the island. The way you showcased the birds was fun to watch. I'm going to Pearl resort to relax for sure! Next time, though, I want something about the culture there:)

  • The end ruined it for me because it felt too much like an add, otherwise I'd Greenlight. Also, when Jordan starts talking it would be nice to bring down the music even more, a lapel mike would have been best. Beautiful underwater shots.
