Three Teddybabes appreciating the benefitts of HDTV
Think about it! People who red light and hide under anonymity without commenting share a common trait with terrorists ! Don't red light without comments.
Also, please note that voting against this ad on the basis of where the dolls came from is no less prejudicial than discriminating against people based on their place of birth. There is nothing sexual in this ad and the middle Teddy Babe reveals no more than a ballet dancer would.

What in the world!? Were those sex dolls!? I'm sorry but I cannot green light this.
-
Hey man,
Thanks for the awakening, I will have to let my daughters know that they will have to keep a close eye on their boyfriends when they visit.
Do you consider all women sex objects? What are your feelings on all mannequins? Your car can be a transportation device, a sports machine or a weapon of death. It is all in the eyes of the beholder. My three girls take exception to your labeling them as you did. I don't believe they were thinly clad or dressed like hookers or sex objects.
These are not the expensive silicone babes they are stuffed cuddle toys for the most part that just happen to be anatomically correct. Although I am sure, just as young boys became amorous with their teddy bears when the hormones started running high, there are those that would appreciate these girls even more. Oh well, at least they are disease free:)
They lend themselves well to animation and have great personality. These are marketed primarily as a cuddle toy and collectable each serial numbered..
If you check out the survey of owners on www.teddybabechronicles.com it supports this.
But the fact of the matter is...what's the big deal? They are just stuffed company. Who cares what people do with them behind closed doors?
What I really do appreciate is your having the gumption to state your opinion and I also appreciate your not red lighting it, just because it did not fit within your moral fibre.-

It's just really odd that you would broadcast your "dolls" for the whole world to see. I googled teddybabe and found out that those are sex toys and also cost $700 bucks a piece. Now, you either own the business that is making these, and this is all a way of promoting that. Or you just spent $2100 on dolls, that you now refer to as your daughters...
-
This was.....wierd. Don't know what to think of it really.
-
The fact that it makes you think is testimonial enough.

So the big question is, Direct to Dave...
What is freaky about it? Would it still be freaky if I substituted my Standard Poodle in place of the dolls.
These poor girls are trying to go straight and break into a new profession :)-

Saw your other one...I think there's a slight difference...but I think the issue is that...it's just plain wierd...like, licking women's shoes wierd. My vcam also has a very sexual undertone, but if what you're trying to convey is that these girls...I mean dolls are thinking about a new profession...that's not what I'm gettin'. Please, don't sick your girls on me.
-
Ok Wes,
My daughters are my daughters. I refered to the Teddy Babes as my girls, the way I would refer to my shooting crew as my crew, or my actors my actors.
I don't own the company. Whether or not you see these as sex dolls is a question of perspective. You visit one web site that is perhaps mismarketing the doll and brand it as such.
A car is only a TAXI if you make it a taxi. A boat is a fishing boat only if you use it for fishing and to that effect, a doll is a 'sex' doll only if you use it for sex. I would like people to see these as more than that. They have great potential (if tamed down slightly) to reach a much broader market.
So, I really don't mind broadcasting my dolls for the wholw world to see as the context in which I use and represent them has absolutely NOTHING to do with sex.-

I was referring as their new profession as being actors.
I really don't see this ad as having any kind of sexual undertone at all. Just three innocent girls watching TV that are on TV that we're watching. Ther eis absolutely nothing more to it.
Must be my Canadian accent that threw you off, eh?
And I guarantee you are safe from the Teddy Babes as they are very particular on insuring that all their friends have the 'right stuff'ing :)
Cheers,
Thanks for the comments.-

Cool concept...TV within a TV.. Not sure about all this other stuff though :) GL just for the concept and the controversy.
-
I didn't expect anybody would have the nerve to GL this after all the comments. Coach, you might have to change your name or get run out oftown by this crowd :)
Thanks for the courageous GL. I didn't realize I had so many reds until I GL'd it myself.
I would find it interesting to know how many of the reds are here because of the subjects rather than the actual content and format of the ad. When I bounce this off a number of test subjects who had no idea of the dolls history the general remarks were 'cool'. If this is the case, people are voting not for the ad but against something that appears to threaten them.-

My god, Knightshot, you've done it now! How low will you stoop, to get your work noticed. I like the TV in the TV thing though. GL.
P.S. This is really not my name!!!
BTW, would you be interested in selling one of those to me at a good price so I can have my way with her? -
Thanks for the Gl, vonmac.
As to your last question....let me give it some though...pervert :)-

Sick people exist and I don't believe that you are one of them.
The work is original and it does not offend sexually in the most minimal thing.
Greenlight in favor of the dolls! -
Wow, knightshot, you're really are taking a beating here. OK, I might be his friend, but he does do a lot of controversial subjects and he usually tries to remain unbiased and subjective, unlike a lot of what I'm seeing here. No wonder the world is in such a state when people are so quick to judge a 'book by it's cover'
Perhaps this ad should be placed under the cultural section instead. It's fortunate that Teddy Babes don't have feelings...or do they? -
Thank you Rivertan, for seeing it like it is unaffect by biased preconceptions. I try to be - actually in my business I have to be - open minded and non-judgemental. I have no prejudices...except for redlighters that don't have the gumption to back up their red with a remark. I have great respect for those who do.
And thanks fisherman, for the kind remarks and the GL, although now that you've pointed out you're a friend people will probably discredit it :)-

Hey Dave,
Perfectly understandable, dispite all the animation movies and programs out ther. You must admit though, you would probably be a lot more comfortable around these dolls than Chuckie - now that is a doll that freaks me out. But lets look at one private email I received:
WHat is it that makes a good TV comercial?
1) shows the Item being advertised.
2) Draws people's intrest enough to not get up and ignore the add.
3) for the company advertising, lower cost
I think everyone is aquainted with the Geico - Gekko, and who has not seen the Caveman?
If I saw Tebbybabes on the TV, I would definatly remember that comercial. I think it would get people talking, and no matter what they said about it, they would definatly remember it. ;)
Not only that but it could well be the first commercial with product placement :) Trafic on the Teddy-Babes website was up significantly yesterday. Not bad for a Sony HD ad. Also, there is a much bigger human interest story lurking behind the ad. Do you ever wonder who buys these things and why, for without that knowledge, any bashing comments carry no weight at all despite the amount of conviction shown. But this is another story.
The ad is an attention getter and has provoked a lot of reaction and without resorting to pronography, sex or violence. That is the sign of a good ad. Will Sony buy it - not a chance! Did they benefit by it - I'm sure they did AND my other client also reaped big benefits I'm sure. This ad is getting more views than most of my others.-

I understand your double agenda for this commercial, but I just don't see Sony wanting to air this type of ad because of the TeddyBabes "undertone". Not because of any moral or social issue, but because of the fact that it is, like you said, stirring up conversation about TeddyBabes, another company. I would think they would like their commercials to stick to the HD family and not the TeddyBabes family. But I like ads that have undertones and stir up conversation. You did well on that part.

Some very good points here. I might point out that Sony has been preapproving these ads, so it has passed their scrutiny as acceptale, however, now considering the reaction, they may feel differently just because of the association drawn to the dolls as sex toys. Without knowing where theses dolls came from people would probably not have viewed them any differently than muppets? It just goes to show people do have built in prejudices and fears.

Although Im aware of the TeddyBabe product and perhaps Im naive, but until it was mentioned here, I didnt realise they had other connotations. OK so they are more glamorous than a Cabbage Patch, but as used in this ad, they are no more than striking dolls. In the UK they would probably be associated with Rosie and Jim (a kids TV show). What really makes the ad work is the way the background scene appears to be real in the first shot, but is then shown to be a HD TV, which is what HD is all about. GL

Hi Dave,
I was beginning to think this video was becoming a vote on censorship and prejudices rather than on the quality of the ad, however, there seems to be a shift towards open mindedness and preserving our basic freedoms. All this from three stuffed dolls :)
Thanks for seeing beyond the label and evaluating this commercial for what it is. Also note that the Teddy Babes themselves are also on HDTV which was displaying the first HDTV. Thus bringing life (reality) to the dolls themselves.
It is my opinion that the doll is being mismarketed, and needs a complete market direction change. Your comments just go to reenforce that recommendation.
Thanks again.
Cheers,

Thanks Lampman for the comments. I am curious, about your remark on the final composition and text.
Is it the line itself Making Realities? or more the framing of the picture?-

I think this is funny and cute.
It also has all the essential elements of a good comercial. Upon seeing it, people will look at it instead of going to get that drink - no matter if they like it or not, they WILL be talking about it. - the babes presented have a definate, memorable character, like the 'Caveman', and Geico Gekko.
I'd say run the commercial.-

Good ad with emphasis on the product. The skirt on the middle girl couild be just a shade lower, but no other problems.

This is funny and weird and absolutely hilarious. Looks like you are having fun making some wacked out stuff with quirky East Coast humour !!!

Rather bizarre. I chuckled. I'm not in the market right now for a huge Sony TV or for a camera. However, if I were, I might just have been persuaded.
Please take a look at My Current Film.
It's sardonic. It's political. It's short. And it's very Current. If you like it I'd appreciate a vote.
