Usually scientists are excited when they find stuff. But right now astronomers are excited about having found a big swath of nothing. 1 billion light years of it. That's almost 6 billion trillion miles of nothing. No black holes, no stars, no galaxies or dark matter. Pretty cool stuff, dude.

Alternative Big Bang TheoryThat link you posted has some other great links at the bottom. One of which eventually led me to the one I'm posting. It is a pretty technical breakdown of a theory called Ekpyrotic Universe Theory.
There were many other things you could check out too like the greatest mysteries of the universe and the strange things in space one.
