You've probably heard about Virgin Galactic -- well, they just unveiled the design for their spaceport (I repeat: THEIR SPACEPORT) in New Mexico and it looks pretty awesome.

Here is a scene from the year 2013:

YOU: Oh hey Robin, doing anything interesting this weekend?

ME: As a matter of fact, yes. I'M GOING INTO SPACE.

YOU: Oh wow, really? Where are you going to begin your journey?

ME: THE SPACEPORT!!!!!!!

  • This is sweet
  • There's something about this that is very unsettling to me. It's almost TOO futuristic, TOO sci-fi.

It is sweet. Shame that, you know, IT EXPLODES.
  • Amanda, that is nonsense. NONSENSE.

(No, actually, I know what you mean -- I would almost be afraid walking up to it.)

    (ALMOST.)

  • I really hope this happens but doubt it will, at least anywhere near on schedule. Designs are one thing, building another. What does the site look like right now and what will it look like in a year? Remember the movie 2001? That was the vision of the future in 1968 and man are we a long way from that.

  • True - the movie 2001 was pretty ambitious in portraying the future. But I think it's good that we've waited this long. There are still so many accidents with space shuttles. I'd just like to hang out at the SpacePort and watch the shuttles take off!

  • I'd just like to hang out in the spaceport and have a drink. :) Doesn't it look like some crazy LA nightclub? (Robin: I know you know what I mean. The Robin in my head said, "YES! Exactly! Except it's totally rad.")
  • Sign me up...as long as they fix that control system problem it looked like they had on the first flight. The video gave me the heebie jeebies.
