The Taliban militia is making a comeback in Afghanistan, five years after coalition forces drove them from power. Violence is increasing and officials were predicting it was going to be a violent spring. Kaj Larsen reports from Kabul to ask why it seems the country is unraveling.

Once again, another powerful piece of reporting by Kaj Larsen. His segments are the very best part of Current''s programing. It''s so important to know what''s going on in the hot spots of the world, please keep these coming!

More minutes of quality coverage of the cyclical battle to secure Afghanistan than I''ve seen in the MSM for several years. For the world''s most capable military alliance, defeating the Taleban was hardly the difficult part of this battle; providing the people of Afghanistan the security they require in order to enjoy prosperity is a critical and underfunded part of "victory over the Taleban". (There''s also the matter of that Osama fellow - I wonder what he''s up to these days.)
Bottom line - we took the Afghan people''s government away because its foreign policy was unacceptable, and now if we do not replace it, their lives will be ruined. We owe them more than we''re doing; they have been more appreciative of the global reality that their governance sucked than some other countries I could mention, and we have an obligation not to fail. We''re not hearing this story loud enough, but I''m glad Mr. Larsen has the opportunity to bring it to us. His viewpoint is obviously more grounded in reality than some of the people I see covering these types of stories, and he asks good questions of everyone from military commanders to returned refugees; he brings his relevant and qualified news crew into the story at the appropriate time. Great story, great piece. -
Incredibly well documented ... great insight and visual into the reality of Afghanistan. I hope to see more from this team

While there was a reported decrease in violence in Iraq in September...Afghanistan has been rocked by a surge in suicide attacks.
