An old man puts L'Oreal Men's Expert Hydra-Energetic shaving cream on his face and when he goes to wash it off he brings his face up to be amazed by how younger he looks.

Everyone I tried to keep it simple and to the point, and giving it a funny approach to show that when stress is gone you look young. Thanks and please GL it!!!

This is great I would love to see this on tv, the fact that the old guy went from old to young is great. This is a great commercial for L'Oreal. I would definitely buy it for my husband if it made him young lol.

Great concept, and very well executed. I think it really fits with the product. GL from me.
When you get a chance, please check out my pod BIG BUGS , and let me know what you think about this reverse perspective on the world. Thanks!-

I really do like the concept, but I didn't find the guys reaction to his new face realistic. "Wow?" Kind of killed it for me, but it was clever. It's better than 90% of the stuff on here, so GL.

ha! you got me! that was VERY CLEVER...well done...GL for sure! Thanks for the encouraging words...keep up the good work..can't wait to see your pod!

Simple and effective! Very good! I'd crossfade in longer there at the beginning, but what the hell do I know?

great idea. maybe the shot could've been tighter on old (and then young) man's face. the reveal didnt hit hard enough.

Kewl but I agree you can't really see how old the guy is in the first shot becasue the resolution is not good enough on the small screen. You should redo it with tighter shots and maybe even more exxagerated makeup. n Lets see how that works.
-
I like the concept a lot. But I agree with a previous comment that the reveal was too subtle. Maybe there could have been more punch with the music...maybe the contrasts could have been greater (an older old guy and a younger young guy). But conceptually very creative. GL.

Thanks everyone for giving me suggesstions to make the ad better.

I love the concept! Very funny!
In my very humble opinion, the age difference was just perfect. We wouldn't want to induce an "oh come on!!" reaction, right?
Perhaps the Text part could have been integrated (or replaced) with some more footage of the younger version, loving this product and the way he looks. This is about vanity afterall. Your models (actors) look great, I'd say show them off a little bit. Let's all wonna be like that younger version :)
Thanks a lot for your GL on my VCam! -
I love that music, ads with music always beat ones without.
-
Nice bathroom, i really like design. Your concepts good too.

this is a cool concept. And...... I don't know what it is, but that first shot looks simply amazing. Maybe its the outstanding set, acting, framing and lighting.
But it just seems a little "fluffy" with not enough "umph" or information.
Since you asked for suggestions, here are my 2 cents (please take them with a grain of salt).
NO dissolve! That kills the reveal. Alternatively, you could keep the camera static as the actor bends out of frame, then cut, and reveal the younger actor entering the frame. OR even better, splash the camera/mirror with water as he washes off the shaving cream. Then he could wipe it clean to reveal the younger actor. Either way, I agree with the others that you need some CUs of the actors to help the reveal. If you cant reshoot then I suggest adding VO or some other layer of information (maybe graphical). Just think about it, an older man's life vs. a young man's life can lead to LOTS of funny contradictions. And lastly, the text at the end needs to be incorporated SOMEHOW within the video. Because there is more text than video. And its a commercial which NEEDS to grab peoples attention who might be in the other room cooking dinner. Mmmmmm dinner.
It's a great ad!
Keep it up.

Cool, GL from me!

I guess this is a way to get people to watch some advertising... I use soap just plain bar soap...
audio: water running is distracting- use a lower cleaner water sound - add close up on old man shot .
Good concept- for learning the art -but in advertising there should some truth... This product would not do that in real life so this could be misleading - keeping it real is very important in selling a products. good job-

You get my GL, I laughed. Granted keeping some reality in may be important, I recently saw a few ads on TV that included a cat running through a wall to get food and a dancing broom...I don't think that happens in real life either so I'm okay with this.
GL
Please take a moment to check out my latest POD, BIG MEDIA fails again and feel free to give it a GL if you like it.
Thanks.

Very good! I only have one question? Did you use Windows Movie Maker to Edit and Make you Ad?
That reason I asked, was because instead of using the fade into transition, try overlapping the end of the first clip with the beginning of the young guy. Don't know if that will work, but just maybe see how it does. Also, you could just try no transition at all and jump straight to the second clip with the young man. Otherwise, I think it's great. Actually, I think it is fine how it is, just wondering how it would play and look the way that I suggested. GL here!-

I like the concept, but I worry it carries legal issues about misrepresentation. I guess we let the lawyers worry about that, though. :)

Nice concept, very simple, and well done...my only thought is that the transition could have been more subtle...maybe he leans out of frame, then jumpcut to the younger guy leaning back into frame...just a thought.
Let me know what you think of my Sony VCAM...thanks! -
nice contrast. good job !
-
Funny concept, with the younger guy appearing in the end. As far as overall effect I would say that you should improve the typography on the slides, something more stylish. And it may just be the quality of the video but it seems as though the sound is overmodulated. But really great work.

This is ok. Nice music.

you've got a lot of posts, but one thing i would suggest is recording the sound at a higher quality. do the running water separately from his actual actions. sound improves everything. the little things matter. otherwise, keep plugging.
-M -
great story/concept. However, two shots with a simple cross fade? too amature. and too predictable. how about having cut aways with close ups the the shaving, rinsing of the razor, using the actual product (it's called product placement), then when you go from old guy to cut aways, to young guy, you've got a more dramatic transformation. also, change his outfit. having a bold colored shirt against a plain bathroom will make the shirt rememberable. then, when he changes to the young guy, he'll have the same, recognizable shirt and it makes the story catch quicker.

Thats a good idea, but by having a load of text at the end, you lose the audiences interest. I reckon that the text should come in the middle over CA's of shaving, as trevorw says, and then end on the shot of the guy now miraculously young. I want the story to carry on for the whole advert.

pretty cool going from a dad look to a son look!
-
good execution tho i think the concept has been done before. i think if the lighting was a bit brighter it would improve the whole feel.
-
I like the concept a lot. Simple and funny. I'm not into so much text at the end. I think if you have to have the text, then maybe it should have more design to it. Overall good though --GL.

Hmmm....I guess I was too subtle. Ease up on the kid. He is clearly new to using video equipment. But I do agree. GL stuff that isnt ready for T.V. hurts the overall usefulness of our votes.
GL stuff that is actually ready for T.V. Sorry Monkey...that isn't you. -

Hia,
just came across your pod as I did not know there were 2 voting possibilities and different scores for US and UK!
Anyways, well done. Hope the advertising people will get the joke and not think it would be unfair claims towards the competition.
Maybe its different here in Britain than in USA.
