A video short about one of many adventures my dad had as a Spitfire pilot during WWII. Could be the basis of a general series about the many who didn't achieve the fame but did the time and have the stories to tell.

  • Just wondering if the red lighter would let me know where it falls short as it could be helpful! I can respect a qualified Red light. If I get no resp[onse, I'll assume it as nothing more than a malicious act.

In case you haven't guessed, I don't believe in the RED light system.

  • Hey Knightshot, don't get your dander up. Probably just a peace loving pacifist that red lights all war videos and has no respect for those who fought for the freend he or she now enjoys. Great job, considering you had no video to work with. The B&W's were a Spit V if I'm not mistaken, but it looked like it could have been a Spit XIV in the videos that you apparently sepia toned. The bubble canopy waas a giveaway, re-enforced by the final picture of your dad sitting in it :)

  • For those who who have no idea what freedom means. This is the great story of a great dogfighter.
We should all be proud of and thankfull to.
Unfortunately time where humanity fitghts out its problems on the chess board or computer game has not arrived yet. Probably never will.
Great job knightshot my hat is off to you and your dad GL with the sparkle

  • Thanks, yksratnak
Actually he was not a great dogfighter and only saw four dog fights in 270 logged hours. Encounters in some theatres were like rolls of the dice. Good thing for dad, though as he said he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn and only shot dome one plane. His true worth to the squadron is echoed by his nickname 'Eyes of the Squadron". He also was rated above average pilot and ended up instructing the free French in North Africa. Thanks for the GL.

  • GL But I think there's more you could do with the stills. Do you have more stills and spitfire SFX?

I don't know if you know this but you can layer scanned photos in Photoshop import them into Final Cut Pro (If your using Final Cut) as layers. You can animate the layers as separate video tracks, See Andre's Shoes Title sequence - The leopard and each shoe is on a different track.

The reason I'm blabbing on about this is that you can use the stills and SFX in very creative ways to play over the interview. There is info on how to do this on KenStone.net - if your using Final Cut.

If you meant to GL Andres Custom Shoes, please check, I don't think it took.

    Good Luck!

  • Thanks for your kind comments on "Dennis and Ena".

Let me return the compliment and say how much I enjoyed this. The things we are making may not be "current enough" for Current TV, but it's important they are remembered.

Might I suggest you put this on The Internet Movie Archive? It is better guaranteed than anything else on the Web at the moment to survive the years to come. link
