The past few years, the immigration debate has been running at a feverish pitch. This pod highlights opposite ideological points of view of the issue by utilizing footage shot during the many protests and demonstrations that had taken place the last three years.

Very big situation! Props for tackling it...I'll tell you my southern east-coast 21 year old male caucasian point of view. The taking of "jobs" is ridiculous. Of course they are getting jobs because they actually work. That does not worry me. I haven't had any problems getting a job. As for the immigrants learning English, it won't happen because they don't want to adapt to our culture. They are proud of their own, as they should be. We should learn Spanish ultimately to expand our minds and possibilities. Start implementing a whole lot more in school, just as they do English, if they haven't already done that. Great work! Don't let our conservatives discourage your people's hope for well-being.

welldone pod on a controversial issue! I can kind of understand both sides here.
Living in Japan as a working resident I find this issue particularly interesting especially whenever the rightwingers do their little speeches on mega-phones.
In the end, illegal immigration is only a small part of a much larger problem.
As long as there exists a huge difference in living standards between First World and Third World countries, illegal immigrants will continue to flood into First World countries.
In order to save themselves, First World are going to have to work at building up the infrastructures of 3rd World countries as opposed to exploiting them for cheap labor and resources as they have done in the past.-

Whoa....this is serious. I am glad that you have shown all sides of the debate here. Both the whites and the Mexicans have a point, but the whites do sound like they speak more out of fear. The guy saying they are "stupid" reminds me of the civil rights movement when they said, "Segregation Now, Segregation Forever!" But at the same time, they have a point about preserving American culture through our language: English. As for the Mexicans, they do have a point that they are doing ALL the hard work---that "Whitey pick your own lettuce" sign was Deep! Truth be told our culture is changing...Mexicans coming in over the border are doing the work- and changing the culture. And the whites---well they are scared out of their minds. GOOD JOB in representing this. Greenlight! (And thanks for watching my video)

This is the issue of our time. Keep up the good work.
How do we help to reduce the tension and find real answer for the fears and problems of both sides?

This is a good piece presenting both sides of a divisive issue. It's well edited with good music as well.

GL. Great collection of shots and events. If I hear a person say "they are coming to take over" one more time my head will explode. Some of these people LOVE their fear! Great job on this.
Please take look at our pod if you get a moment>

GL Very important issue, tough to get all the facts on both sides in skimpy sound bites. It would be great to hear 1 cogent argument on each side. Although, this is a beginning.
Check out Sister Beatrice Explores. She marched with the workers and survived a hail of rubber bullets.-

Chilling and poignant footage. Without narration this pod highlights the frightening bigotry of what is clearly the right/conservative section of White America, lambasting immigrants, and even going so far as to saying latinos "abuse their children" and have the "IQ of a houseplant." For the love of God: GL! A potent mix of footage that covers both sides, while letting the viewer make their own decision on the topic. Looking forward to future work.

GL! Good job showing two sides to an important issue. I only showed one side on my pod about Breed Specific Legislation but I want to make another pod to show the other side. Take a look and tell me what you think? Thanks! Keep making pods!

Great editing choices!!!
I was watching "Got Fat?" a Hanala video (she's my favorite on Current) and saw you gave her the GL and invited her to see this. So I decided to view it, and boy am I glad.
My parents are immigrants. This is an excellent video, so well produced and the topic is so important.

This is what responsible journalism is all aboutpresenting both sides and letting the viewer formulate his or her opinion. This is powerful. I am quite impressed. (By the way, my mother-in-law's last name is Magana. I wonder if Tonall is a blood relative.)
-
Good pod. Entertaining. Informative. Covered both sides of a hotly debates issue pretty evenly. GL

One thing I will say, Growing up in commie country
I used to look at USA as paradise.
I could not imagine that one day I will see this great country in such disaray. Wake up America before is too late. GL -

I've picked up laborers from Home Depot. They were great. They worked hard and for not very much money. I'll do it again, and if they are not available it will make my job harder and less cost effective.

There is no denial that there is a population of Americans that don't speak English very well but the contributions of these Americans for the most part are well intended and definately a major part of our economy. However in the U.S. we have freedom and security. A huge part of that security is our government assigning every single U.S. citizen a social security number and thus why we pay taxes. We cannot punish any group of people for trying to survive but we can back tax them if they have been in the country for over one year. Anything after they shall be assed a fine. How do we begin to do this? We have got to hold every single business accountable for there workers.

Xenophobia, the fear that the people on the steps of this video were taking advantage of to garner support and control the weak minded and the scared. Only if the ridiculousness of these claims can be revealed to the the logical reasoning among us can some positive change take place, but never will that great change involve further restricting or harming the illegal aliens already here.
-
these white people who are so degrading and all out mean to the mexican workers should take a long look at themselves, and they should think about what it would be like to be one of the desperate families who have crossed the border. i think they would feel guilty about the utter hate and contempt they show for those people.
