A revolution is rapidly sweeping across Latin America. A dramatic movement of the poor and largely indigenous population have elected left-wing socialist governments that could for the first time represent their countries interests.
Jairo is a young Latino who explains the vital importance of uniting his people.
In 1998, Venezuelan Hugo Chavez rekindled the ancient Bolivarian dream of a United Latin America, creating a domino effect across the continent. An Aymara Indian named Evo Morales made history as the first indigenous president of Bolivia (seen here on his 2005 election campaign).
One by one the countries of this continent are following, supported by the liberal governments of Lula in Brazil and Kirchner in Argentina.
500 years of exploitation have left much of the continent in poverty and ensured its dependence on investment from the United States and Europe. These Latin American countries, which were once divided and fragile, are now controversialy working together.
Can this continent unite and fulfil the Bolivarian dream of a United Latin America?

That was very infomative, interesting, short and to the point. The music was great, the cutaways were really good and you did a nice job with the map graphic. I also like the person that you interviewed. He kept my attention. GL.

The Latin American Revolution is a hopeless myth. Chavez, Morales, and Kirchner have exploited its people, and do not represent the beginning of a Revolution in Latin America. Chavez has abused the Constitution of its country in repeated occasions. Morales has driven its nation into deeper economic problems, and betrayed its people. And, Kirchner is only the beginning of a new political dinasty in Argentina. Hopefully this time around there will be no helicopter on top of the Casa Rosada. People wants and is ready for change, but the popular voices become mute when mouths are fead, and the story repeats itself.

By the way, Bolivar only put the capstone to a major military campaign, that began in Argentina, crossed the Andes into Chile, sailed to Peru and Ecuador, ending in Bolivia. Yes, Bolivar did cross the Andes faster than San Martin, and did not leave for Europe. But, San Martin did not killed half his men crossing the Andes for personal gain, or give us a country bearing his name to remember in eternity.
