This is a short film I made whilst on a military exercise in Northern Scotland. It deals with the way technology has changed the relationship between the military and the media. I also look at the way technology has allowed local journalists in conflict areas to show the story.

The footage was shot by Conal Reid, Ruth Owen and various others to whom I'm very grateful for all their help

    Very interesting POD,.....
Love the line: "The key is WHO TO BELIEVE?"

Yep its all about the SPIN.......

Right, the key is who to believe. One thing about the embedded journalism is, can we really expect to get an objective story from someone who is working with the troops. Through no fault of their own, they will have a bias.

It really does put the pressure on the journalist, and their integrity.

I liked this pod and how it was presented. Great job.

Please take a moment to check out my latest POD, BIG MEDIA fails again and feel free to give it a GL if you like it.

    New version coming any second...
    Thanks.

The whole idea of embedding journalists is designed to compromise their objectivity - often often in favor of the troops they are "in bed" with.

Check out Sister Beatrice Explores. She'd love to be embedded but alas it never happened.

An excellent piece. Relevant and topical. Appealing to a Current TV audience. Should be aired!

Excellent piece! I think you could trim it down slightly. The phone interview felt a little long to me, but I enjoyed the way you handled it by showing images throughout. I was really impressed though with the diversity of images and media that you were able to incorporate into your pod. Great work! GL from me!

Yes, dave this is a really smart piece. I agree it's probably too long (I'm getting that feedback too on my pod) for Current, but I see places you could trim. I'm Greenlighting because regardless, it's a good story that should be seen... Good job.

Very nicely put together and professional looking. As others have said, a bit long in the phone interview. Perhaps more interesting visuals during that segment would help.

Very interesting topic-- I like how you've found engaging images to go with the extensive information you get accross in voiceover and interviews. "Blog of war" might be a good title for this pod...
