On average, each American produces approximately 8 pounds of trash a day. What happens to this garbage? Where does it actually go? This pod follows the flow of refuse from curbside collection, to unloading at a transfer station, to final deposit at a landfill. Are landfills really a progressive way to deal with our waste, or are they akin to sweeping our garbage under the carpet for future generations to deal with?

Thank you for helping us understand a little better what happens after we throw things away. Hopefully it will help us all reduce the amount of trash we generate. I'd like to know what really happens to all the glass and plastic material we take the time to recycle.. maybe that can be your sequel!!

awsome pod. a lot to be learned from this. it is so true that once we throw something away we forget about it. glad this made it on to the air!!

This is very effective and can really inspire others to reconsider how to manage their trash. Good work!
