This is simply a montage of a variety of cultural scenes primarily in Japan where I currently live interspersed with a few scenes from Britain and Spain. The idea here is the promotion of culture and history through multi-media images set to music. In the face of the modern world which is steadily creating a monolithic culture of passive couch potatoes, we need not to forget our cultural identities nor neglect to take an active part in such activities.

It was fun and expensive to make - not as much in equipment as I did this with Windows Movie Maker and handcam but expensive in traveling to all those places.
This montage represents about four years worth of traveling. I only got my handcam in October so much of the video footage here was shot with digicamera's video feature.
The music here represents my theme song in upcoming pods which will be in a much shortened form preceding each pod.
For those curious for a bit more info on some of the scenes in my pod, check out my blog. There are several stories related to the images here:

This is an excellent montage. I too live in Japan and your work here conveys so very well the dynamism of this culture.
I very much look forward to viewing more of your work, and I must say that the quality and content of this piece is a most refreshing change from much of the banality that, unfortunately, so often pervades such otherwise great sites as this.

GL. I like your choice of music with this. I would take out anything that is not Japanese and make it just about Japan. The other stuff is maybe another video. Would be fun to see more current trends as well and not just the culturaly famous stuff. Great fun anyway!

Thanks for the comment, twodee. Really this is more of a taste of things to come and I don't want to limit myself just to Japan. I'm all about holistic multi-culturalism.
The Battle of Hastings relates to my being in Japan in a round-about way in that the language and culture that evovled in the aftermath of that battle. I plan to do a pod or two on the Battle of Hastings sometime soon so that's why the footage is there.-

GL Dave, I like the track and the Japanese montage. The battle of Hastings 1066 is nice but doesn't fit thematically. What do you think?
Thanks for the GL on A Sister Beatrice Explores.-

I can see your point, DavidGeorge, but I wanted it to be an eclectic montage of culture - my problem is that I don't have much actual video footage outside of Japan though I've traveled to 30 countries.
The Battle of Hastings BTW is what inspired me to get a camera and get into video-making - uh, the re-enactment not the actual battle itself.
This montage is really a taste of things to come hence the inclusion of the Battle of HAstings which I plan to do a pod or two on. Stay tuned!-

Dave, thanks for the comments on the <a href=" http://current.tv/watch/53816101.htm">Susan Cagle</a>
piece, very cool stuff.
What we have here is a nice montage of great cultures = nice stuff man. Your music was well placed, your cuts were simple sweet and to the point, and your visuals were very exciting and interesting. Defiantly had to watch this a few times to get everything = GL from me! -
Great Video lots of interesting shots, but do the Japanese really re-create the 1066 Battle of Hastings?

Yes! I loved this fast-paced cultural montage! The colorful and eclectic Japan parts, especially. Honestly, travel segments seem to drag but you made it fun. More action and visuals and less talking about the place. Green light! I hope this makes it on TV!

there is some really weird stuff there, but i like it.sometimes a few more explanations would be nice in case it gets on tv like where and what and why, but its a fun music video so far.
