UPDATE 8/10/07
I just want to thank everyone for all your nice comments! There are some very talented people posting on this site and I am honored that my piece was chosen for TV.

I especially want to thank my daughter Haley for doing such a great job on the voice-over!

I also have a new animated spot I created for the XM assignment but I am waiting for the music clearance so hopefully I will be able to get it posted before the deadline!

  • This is beautiful. The combination of the animation and the hand draw style is seamless.

    Some suggestions would be to tighten this down to a :30 second spot. Also, if there is a weakness here, it is the Voice Over. If, there is a weakness.

  • Good stuff. If I was going to nit-pick:

    1) The moment when the lady raises down her arm, tt feels awkward.

    2) The postcards, bridge, statue of liberty and other misc stuff makes the whole thing busy for those moments especially when they are all detailed in comparsion to the simple drawings of the midground and foreground.

    3) Some faded/faint color overlaying the drawings would be nice, and help tie in the real photograph of the car at the end.

    That was just nit-picking. Regardless, really well done.

    I really like it.
    I know everyone has an opinion yada yada yada..but the only thing I would do different is that I would make the whole looseleaf go full screen after your closeup on the mom.
    The red border is a bit distracting and I feel as though I am viewing the story at more of a distance than really experiencing it first-hand.

    Otherwise great work, I gave it a green.
