Secularism vs. Islam ?

Thanks for bringing your perpsective to cTV. It certainly raises the question of how to define a Moslem culture, one that I'm interested in, but have only just begun to appreciate. Is there Sharia in Turkey? Is there freedom of speech? Fascinating material.

On a filmmaking level, the opening shot seemed a bit off topic. Perhaps a shot that included both a recognizable skyline (I did recognize the Blue Mosque, but couldn't name it until I went to wikipedia!) and a group in prayer (and even non-observant passers-by) might be a better opening shot.

Turkish dissidents and authors are being hunted and killed all over the world because of what they have to say about Turkey. My friend, the person in my <a href="http://current.tv/watch/35647424.htm">pod</a> has survived a number of attempts on her life, and had many death threats mostly because her story has direct implications toward the Turkish government. <br>

Good pod with an interesting perspective on something that is NOT being covered by BIG MEDIA.

The issue of secularism in Turkey is one that should be discussed and examined, because it gives a view of Islam, that the west does not really even know about.
