More students than ever are taking on internships to acquire the training they need to enter the workforce. What is the cost?

  • I think this is an important topic. As a lawyer, I have seen companies try to avoid paying people by calling the jobs "internships." It can be very exploitative. Having said that, there are a lot of great internships out there that can give students wonderful exposure and experience.

  • GL! I just had a therapist intern ask me to make a pod on Internships and I find this one. I will send it her way! Great topic, as many of us have to prove ourselves by low pay and more work in the beginning. It's a shitty start, but sometimes it can lead to better work and higher pay. What I often hated was the lack of paid internships for non-students who crave experience in their chosen field outside school.

  • the first i knew of unpaid internships was watching the will smith film Pursuit of Happiness. and even then, i was under the impression it was a thing of the past...! i've done work experience, but only for a week or so at a time. fascinating film, brilliant choice of topic. GL.
