Keep up the good work!

Great Directing!
-
the storyteller should not read the staff he/she is saying
-
Simple and straightforward. Also seemed to come straight from the heart. In your next pod, try not to show the reporter/narrator reading from a script.
When you get a chance, please check out my pods "Retiring in Exile" and "Making The Webisode."-

Important topic, though I agree that the host shouldn't be shown reading the script!

this pod has the opportunity of being so relevant and interesting but the host needs cue cards

Excellent topic and a great start. Two suggestions. First, (as others have mentioned) the hostess being show so often is a bit distracting, especially when she is more hesitant and reading from the script. I can tell she's got what it takes to be an on-camera hostess but let's see that pretty face more instead of her looking down at her notes. Second, there are two great anecdotes (great in terms of powerful, but so sad in terms of what's being said). One is that story of the fat woman having trash thrown at her, and the other is the story of the woman not getting a job because of her weight. Both of those stories (or stories of that type) would be stronger coming directly from people who've experienced those things.
Overall, though, great start! I'm gonna pass this one on!-

relevant piece about a growing problem, really hit home my wife is a little heavy but a wonderful person and a great worker but i believe she has been passed over for jobs because of her weight. i do agree with some of the others about the host. it would look more polished if she was not looking down at her script otherwise great piece

GL . Good little piece.
You are right to focus on weight discrimination. That is wrong. The issues around weight are difficult. Much of the problem is our disconnection of understanding the food around us. Mostly anything eaten at a fast food restaurant is not food and should just be avoided, as should all soda. When I see an overweight person eating any of this stuff I want to say ok lets start with the basics put that down and never eat it. There is ample science to show this will hurt you. BUT there is self destruction in becoming too thin or too heavy that often needs to be dealt with before nutrition can even be talked about. We are also are so very bad at respecting women in America that we create all kinds of emotional dysfunction. This could also be at the root of the wild thin/fat extremes in body types. The discrimination you talk about here must stop if we are to build healthy relationships at work and home and anywhere. Sorry to rant great pod! -
if the presenter were a bit more animated and didn't rely so much on the script, this would be really really good. but it's a really good piece, and tackles a really difficult subject. i recently had to put together a series of video debates on the same topic, and it's amazing just how closed minded some people seem to be...!
anyway definitely a GL, but i think if you re-shot the presenter's bits and re-did the voiceover, and tried to be a bit more imaginative with them, you'd definitely increase the chances of this making it to air

i'm not a big fan of the constant self-promotion side of current, but it seems like it's the only way to get your work noticed, so...
if you have time, please check out my 2 pods and if you like them, GL on the UK site.
- Play in a Day: <a href=" http://uk.current.com/watch/77801822">link</...
- Lapstock: (check my profile, should be cleared soon)
play in a day is currently UK number 6, and i'm hoping to do even better with Lapstock, so if you like them and can help me out, let me know if you ever need my vote on the US site in return
cheers,
Adam -
The issue is one of the most important in our "rich" society. Il like your shot on the body of the hostess. Maybe it will be better if we never see her face: a kond of "a body talks to you".

GL, really good pod. You need to reedit it though. Maybe don't show the passages when you read and keep the voice.
