As webcasters and music industry reps face off in Washington, D.C. over royalty rates, independent artists find themselves caught in the middle. Most musicians do not get any airplay on terrestrial mainstream radio, and many independent artists use internet radio to reach a wider audience beyond the local clubs. With a new royalty scheme imminent, many fear that independent music's presence on internet radio will be diluted or marginalized.

  • Green Light. However I dissagree about the internet being a the only way for people to know you. I do not know who is the local artist by name because I visit the internet. I ONLY have a limited amount of time to visit so many web pages and thus that also limits my ability to see who you are. The internet has develop in a way that is very similar to the sale approach that tv currently has and thus that also affects small artist.
