A window into Thailands diverse culture. An exploration of both Buddhist and islamic culture that exist in thailand. This film acts as both a visual battle and melody of two cultures trying to co-exist together.
Note: I am currently editing a 60 minute documentary that explains the conflict in great detail. If you are interested, check the films website at www.thaifilmproject.com
Thanks For Watching!

Let me be the first one to GL this!
Wonderful cinematography, great interaction with people, powerful positive display of contrasting cultures living together in harmony (I'm sure people of Thailand would appreciate seeing themselves in this light. Might make things clearer)
Though I believe I completely understand your artistic expression, I'd still suggest to please add naration to this beautiful video production. Share some of your knowledge and wisdom that sets you apart from any ole visitor with a camera..
And welcome to Current! -
Thanks! For the positive Feedback. The piece has no narration simply because I have a full length doc coming out on the topic. I don't want to narrate a short because the conflict in Thailand requires much detail, and for a short 4 minute piece I would rather people interpret it themselves. A little MTV style cutting with no bias.

GL Beautiful looking. It looked like 2 cultures coexisting but I didn't see the conflict as suggested by "visual battle". Perhaps this is something that will emerge in the doc.
Check out Sister Beatrice Explores. A battle rages within her.-

I really love you topic for this pod. The Buddhist and Islamic cultures are never really explored that much together. You put them together seamlessly with amazing footage. Green Light!!!

I love how the daily life and happenings of the two different communities are portrayed! Greenlight all the way!

There were some great shots in there and I loved the music. I enjoyed not having any narration and it kept me interested.

I loved it. I cant wait to see the entire documentary!

Very Unique piece!
-
GL for sure. Loved this piece Nicole. Excellent shots. Made me want to return to Thailand. Even though Muslims make up less than 5% of the Thai population, they are the second biggest religion and an important culture in the region. Good luck with the full length doc and thanks for sharing this one with us. This belongs on TV!

I really Liked your Pod, I can't belive how diverse and colorful the culture is, you presented it very well and just let the pictues tell the story...Great Job.
I might work on the graphic at the begining, the letters dropping over the text was a little distracting. Also you might want to ad that it is in Thailand...just a thought. GL!

I also cut down my Prius spot into a 30, would love to get some feedback on the new version. -
I really liked the camera movement and music throughout the piece...makes you feel like you are there and are part of the action. Great job Nickie!

Very good cinematography, however from Current's point of view, I think it is a bit too long, especially without any narative. Just my opinion.

Why does a film about culture need a narrative? do you really need someone to tell you what to think? Is it possible to sit back, enjoy the cinematography and the window into another land without having someone tell you what to look at and what is going on?
Just a thought..-

This was visually amazing and I know that you are working on a longer doc so I hope to see some more narrative stuff coming from that, you clearly have the footage and the skills to make an amazing narrative pod about the conflict and would love to see it!
Good work!-

Thanks for all the comments.
I would like to state that this particular piece will not have narration . I believe that we do not need people commenting on everything we watch and pointing our views. People should be able to enjoy watching a piece about culture without having someone tell them what to think. If someone gets interested we have a million sources out there for you to follow up with.
I will have a doc with narration but this piece is simply a collection of culture and fitting music. The music helps to tell the story.
Ask yourselves... Do all pods need to look the same or can we have a variety of styles?-

You got some great footage, I'm sure the full length documentary will be amazing. Will the full length doc have audio bites or music, like this one. Any hoo, GREENLIGHT!

Nice images! A few captions here and there might help but for the most part the images are effective and artistic and speak for themselves. sometimes voiceovers get in the way of images and they can be formulaic and superflous. I don't need someone telling me I'm looking at buddhist monks and so on.
Check out my pods when you have a moment.-
