Deaf Raves are a growing craze amongst young deaf people eager to enjoy themselves. Not able to hear the music, people dance and move to the vibrations coming from massive bass speakers in specially prepared warehouses and dance venues.

  • If I caught it right, sounds like they want to have a rave that would cater to everyone. That would be a sight to behold!! I swear at some clubs the bass is so high you'd think they were one of these special venues.
  • Amazing story! I had no idea this was happening. Leave it to Current to show us things we've never seen, eh?
  • This pod is awesome. As a musician myself, I really enjoyed the studio footage. Great topic.

  • HI DEAFBOYONE HERE...
This is effing AMAZING! What they're communicating is right on the button. Its the signature of modern Deaf culture. The island they wanna get to is same Island I'm sailing for. I may be on a different ship but we;re both Pirates of the Acoustic Airwaves baby!
I am working on similar project down in Sydney Australia. Difference is I wanna connect with my Deaf friends Visually by Signing in time with lyrics of the songs written. I agree with the guys the three of them have somethin special and I can see their goal which is BEAUtiful! Rock on MAN! I'm comin in off the Port bow man!. I'm producing a Rock album (no difference there u say...) BUT I'm then adding visual Sign Dance...Sign Language... Sign Interpreters to the Album so its NOT gonna be a CD (which isolates my Deaf Friends) BUT a DVD Album for my Deaf friends to enjoy. I could go into vibration pads - sound to light stuff I did at RNID Poolemead Bath (Dya wanna read a BOOK!) No Stay Special my friends YOU ARE THE BUSINESS. WICKED IDEA! WHATEVER I CAN DO TO HELP JUST TEXT/EMAIL/CONTACT/SIGN I'LL DO IT! Sorry I'm shouting....Got a li'l over excited there. Checkout myspace.com/deafboyone and you'll understand where I'm comin from?
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK BRUVVAS!

I'm DeafboyOne. This is my Deaf friendly music.
This will eventually be on film with Signed interpreters explaining story of song. The video will be Deaf friendly. The music will be Deaf friendly.
My hope one day is that the hearing children of the world will understand deaf language of the world...
(if Signing is "normal" on pop videos how soon do you think this dream will be realised?)

  • i wonder what bass dat high would feel like
    Mr_318
  • Thankyou for asking the question. It depends on volume. If you turn volume right up to 11 it will feel like hairs on your skin are being tickled. If you feel the beat (like someone tapping your foot) and if you can get sound to light (ones they use at night clubs - react to sound) watch interpreters signing the lyrics to the song it will feel like you're involved in the song/story. The Bass is a long wave pattern so that hits you first, high notes (short wave patterns) will feel like a fly tickling back of your hand, Bass will feel like a lorry going passed? Its got much greater impact, but without signs and tempo not easy to understand? Thats why I want to have Signers signing visual information to "see" the music ?
If you want to find out more log on to myspace.com/deafboyone. Theres more info there that might answer you better than my idle ramblings? Hope this helps...Stay special. DeafboyOne
