FROM THE FIELD TO THE FUEL TANK!
The black smoke. That unmistakable smell. Diesel drivers, in increasing numbers, are trying a cleaner burning fuel that leaves a French fry smell behind - BioDiesel.

For quite some time now, owners of diesel cars have enjoyed cost savings from better fuel economy and lower maintenance costs, compared to their gas powered counterparts. Now BioDiesel is helping to transform the negative stereotypes that others have about diesel vehicles.

But there are many misconceptions surrounding this future fuel. This report details the pros and cons of BioDiesel.

  • Nice job, BUT...

What about the difference between virgin biodiesel (probably from genetically modified soybeans) and that made from reclaimed restaurant waste oil? I'm assuming the fuel sold at this station was from virgin oil sources, otherwise he would have mentioned that it came from reclaimed restauant waste oil.
I think if you wanted to fully cover the "cons" of biodiesel you would have had to mention that non-organic agriculture and GMO crops have negative impacts on the environment, especially on the scale that would be required to meet a significant portion of Americas diesel needs.
Would growing much more GMO crops for biodiesel be better than the way we're doing things now? I'm sure, but I think it is an important angle to consider.
I'm fortunate to be able to fuel my Jeep Liberty with 100% reclaimed restaurant waste biodiesel, which I wish we all had the opportunity to do. Thanks again and I hope it makes it on air quickly.
  • Great, informative doc with good production values. Nice job capturing the issue and the many points that spawn from the topic, which is biodiesel. Hot topic and extremely relevant to current ideological issues our society wrestles with as it plots its future.

  • I loved this one! My dad drives a diesel truck and I've been trying to convince him to try alternative fuels. Now I've sent this video along to him and think it might have convinced him to look on the greener side of driving.
